Senior Retirement Service Consultant

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New Jersey, +2 more states.

📋 Description

• Accountable for safeguarding, securing, and managing all confidential information held by Ascensus to prevent unauthorized access, improper transmission, or unapproved disclosure that could potentially harm Ascensus or our clients.

• Deliver consistently high levels of consultative client service while effectively communicating and collaborating with clients and partners to resolve issues, conduct necessary research, and provide innovative solutions.

• Exhibit comprehensive knowledge of retirement plans and the operations of Ascensus.

• Mentor and coach others on all aspects of retirement planning and client relations, taking into consideration the needs of both the client and Ascensus to arrive at suitable solutions.

• Efficiently monitor and follow up on assigned tasks, which includes determining the necessary actions for resolving client issues, documenting, and implementing solutions as required.

• Communicate clearly and concisely with clients and advisors regarding services, execution, and resolution throughout the service cycle.

• Build and sustain strong working relationships with dedicated clients and financial professionals while providing updates on product and plan initiatives.

• Participate in managing vendor relationships on behalf of clients and partners.

• Drive client retention by anticipating client needs and recommending changes or actions in collaboration with the Relationship Manager.

• Meet individual and team goals related to service levels, growth, and retention for the assigned book of business.

• Identify and systematically document "opportunity plans," collaborating with the Relationship Manager on strategies to mitigate risk.

• Responsible for proactive communication with clients and partners concerning all service delivery components.

• Gather and share feedback with relevant internal resources.

• Manage daily schedules for oneself and the team based on client and business needs.

• Leverage industry knowledge across all areas of retirement operations and service.

• Ensure commitments to clients are fulfilled by proactively reviewing the status of assigned plans’ periodic activities (compliance testing, 5500, quarterly statements, RMDs, etc.).

• Evaluate client objectives, needs, and behaviors to recommend plan, product, or functionality adjustments that enhance outcomes for our clients.

• Educate clients on plan features, product capabilities, or Ascensus functionality and processes.

• Assist peers and Manager(s) by addressing escalated items/calls from clients.

• Oversee and resolve escalated issues.

• Foster and maintain robust internal relationships across departments and locations.

• Responsible for creating materials, training, and assisting others across various departments in these areas.


⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience.

• A minimum of 3-5 years of direct client experience is required, with a preference for experience in the Retirement Services industry.

• Certification or progress towards certification (ASPPA, CEBS, etc.) in an industry-related studies program is preferred.

• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.

• Ability to communicate effectively (clearly, concisely, and professionally) with all levels within the Ascensus organization and our client base.

• Excellent presentation skills, business etiquette, client service abilities, and time management skills.

• Display professionalism in all aspects of the role.

• Experience with financial services systems (i.e., recordkeeping, trust, trading) and familiarity with plan recordkeeping and trust reconciliation.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, especially Word and Excel, with Access and PowerPoint as a plus.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

• In-depth knowledge of retirement plans, ERISA, DOL and IRS regulations, and plan documents (both individually designed and prototype).

• Capability to work effectively in a team environment to achieve a shared goal of providing exceptional client service.

• Ability to thrive under pressure while managing multiple priorities and deadlines in a demanding environment.
