Senior React Native Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom, +1 more country.

📋 Description

• Oversee the engineering of mobile applications for iOS and Android, from development stages to app store launch.

• Design engaging tactile and gesture-driven interactions, such as mystery pack tears, loot-box carousel reveals, card flips, and real-time drop tickers, utilizing TypeScript, React Native Reanimated, Gesture Handler, and Skia.

• Detect and resolve thread bottlenecks, dropped frames, slow view hierarchies, and memory leaks on both iOS and Android platforms.

• Construct robust mobile query pipelines with GraphQL and TanStack Query, incorporating features like optimistic cache updates, pagination, handling network dropouts, and reconciliation during live unboxings.

• Oversee the complete deployment processes for the Apple App Store and Google Play, including TestFlight, provisioning profiles, navigating store reviews, managing testing tracks, ensuring policy compliance, Expo EAS, fastlane, Sentry, and over-the-air updates.

• Utilize React Native New Architecture elements, such as Fabric and TurboModules.

• Create custom native modules or haptics where performance limitations arise from JavaScript bridges.

⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive production experience in developing and maintaining cross-platform mobile applications using React Native and TypeScript, with direct contributions to apps released on both the Apple App Store and Google Play.

• In-depth, hands-on production experience with React Native Reanimated (including worklets and shared values) and Gesture Handler.

• Familiarity with Shopify React Native Skia or custom canvas shaders is a significant advantage.

• Proficient in profiling real devices with Xcode Instruments, Android Studio Profiler, and React Native DevTools to identify UI/JS thread contention and excessive memory usage.

• Practical expertise in managing client caching, race conditions, mutations, and offline/reconnection state handling via GraphQL and TanStack Query (React Query).

• Experience in managing builds and submissions through Apple App Store Connect and the Google Play Console.

• Knowledge of configuring crash monitoring with Sentry and implementing over-the-air (OTA) updates.

• A focused individual contributor who is comfortable writing production-level code, optimizing performance, and delivering releases within a tight-knit engineering team without the need for people management.
