
Senior Quantity Surveyor – Cost Manager, Data Center Construction

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New Mexico.
• Create comprehensive cost plans and estimates during the design and delivery phases for a large-scale, multi-building construction campus.
• Generate and deliver monthly cost reports, executive summaries, and funding details.
• Collaborate with design teams, general contractors, subcontractors, and vendors to validate costs thoroughly.
• Assemble built cost records to aid in benchmarking and promote continuous improvement.
• Evaluate contractor and subcontractor pricing, leading commercial negotiations to achieve fair and competitive contract values.
• Oversee the review, estimation, negotiation, and reconciliation of change orders throughout the construction lifecycle.
• Manage post-contract cost variances, change control processes, commitment logs, and tracking of contingencies.
• Assist in cost risk analysis, scenario planning, and assessments of cost impacts.
• Ensure integration of cost, schedule, and scope in conjunction with project controls teams.
• Contribute to the development of procurement strategies and alignment of scope across various construction packages.
• Engage in contractor pricing reviews and support the client during commercial negotiations.
• Guarantee timely agreement of final accounts while maintaining a robust cost auditing and validation process.
• Act as the primary day-to-day client liaison, ensuring all objectives are achieved and service excellence is maintained.
• Draft written commentary on contractor submissions and provide updates on cost estimates at significant milestones.
• Coordinate efforts with general contractors, design partners, and stakeholders across a large, multi-phase construction campus.
• Advise on engineering and design priorities based on cost factors.
• Lead and facilitate value engineering (VE) sessions with stakeholders.
• Offer insights into market trends, escalation, and factors influencing construction costs.
• Prepare monthly cost reports and ensure accuracy and timeliness of all commercial documentation.
• Implement and uphold Turner & Townsend’s Business Management Systems and delivery methodologies.
• Exhibit strong financial management skills, including margin tracking and monthly forecasting of fees/resources.
• Mentor, coach, and assist in the development of junior team members.
• Foster a high-performance, unified culture within the team.
• Showcase excellence in leadership and service delivery in alignment with commission requirements.
• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Engineering, or a related discipline.
• 5–7+ years of pertinent experience in construction cost management on medium to large-scale projects with moderate to high complexity.
• Experience in data center construction, or in mission-critical, high-tech, industrial, semiconductor, or other large-scale technical facilities is highly preferred.
• Construction consulting experience is strongly preferred.
• Comprehensive understanding of cost planning, procurement methods, commercial management, value management, and value engineering.
• RICS accreditation or progress toward certification is preferred.
• Exceptional communication, stakeholder management, negotiation, and analytical skills.
• Proficiency in industry-standard cost management tools and software.
