Senior QA/SDET

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Establish and oversee the testing strategy for the Vouched identity verification platform.

• Create, develop, and sustain scalable test automation frameworks for REST APIs, web capture SDK, iOS and Android SDKs, and the customer dashboard.

• Incorporate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines to serve as quality checkpoints.

• Assess identity verification processes across various devices, browsers, cameras, and network conditions.

• Conduct tests on document capture, selfie and liveness checks, and webhook delivery.

• Generate secure synthetic test data for ID documents, selfies, and identity records without utilizing actual personal data.

• Evaluate authentication, authorization, input validation, PII handling, redaction, and data retention.

• Produce traceable test evidence and change-validation documentation for compliance standards.

• Lead performance, load, and reliability testing for APIs and processing pipelines.

• Collaborate with ML engineers to validate model and pipeline modifications using regression datasets and accuracy benchmarks.

• Manage release validation and sign-off; triage, replicate, and identify root causes of defects, including production issues.

• Transform escaped bugs into enduring automated coverage.

• Define and communicate quality metrics such as defect escape rate, automation coverage, flakiness, and time-to-detect.

• Utilize AI-driven tools to expedite test creation, test data generation, and failure resolution.

• Review designs and pull requests for testability and provide mentorship to engineers on testing best practices.

• Assess and implement emerging AI-powered tools and workflows to enhance test speed, coverage, and reliability.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 6 years of experience in software quality engineering, with at least 3 years as an SDET or test automation engineer within a software engineering context.

• Proficient programming skills in at least one language suitable for test automation: TypeScript/JavaScript, Python, Java, or Kotlin/Swift.

• Practical experience in building and scaling test automation frameworks for web UIs and APIs, utilizing tools such as Playwright, Cypress, WebdriverIO, Selenium, Jest, Postman, or similar.

• Experience in testing mobile applications or SDKs on iOS and Android, including tools like Appium, XCUITest, Espresso, or similar, and real-device cloud services like BrowserStack or Sauce Labs.

• Familiarity with integrating tests into CI/CD pipelines, including GitHub Actions, CircleCI, or similar.

• Experience working with containerized and cloud environments; GCP is preferred.

• Knowledge of performance and load testing tools such as k6, Gatling, JMeter, or similar.

• Experience with observability tools like Datadog or equivalent for failure investigation.

• Strong understanding of security and privacy testing, including aspects like authentication and authorization, OWASP Top 10, input validation, and the secure handling of PII in test environments.

• Experience in regulated environments supporting SOC 2, ISO 27001, GDPR, or HIPAA compliance, including test evidence and audit preparation.

• Proficiency with AI-powered development tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, or similar.

• Excellent debugging and root-cause analysis abilities across client, API, and database layers.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills; capable of drafting clear test plans, bug reports, and quality reports.

• Experience in a startup environment is necessary.

• Experience in managing or collaborating with distributed teams is crucial.

• Familiarity with identity verification, computer vision, AI/ML-based solutions, or testing ML model quality is advantageous.

• Must reside in the US.
