Automation QA Engineer, Golang/Java

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Poland, +2 more countries.

📋 Description

• Design and uphold Go integration tests for Backoffice services utilizing real infrastructure dependencies and the team’s established test harness.

• Manage the testing backlog for Backoffice services, focusing on coverage and selecting the appropriate testing levels.

• Decide which checks should remain in the Java testing suite.

• Transition selected test scenarios from Java to Go within service repositories.

• Retain pertinent checks and eliminate tests that are no longer necessary.

• Incorporate tests into existing CI pipelines and ensure dependable test execution.

• Provide clear visibility of test outcomes.

• Investigate failures and resolve or explicitly retire unstable tests.

• Maintain the remaining Java tests until they are either migrated or discarded.

• Collaborate with Backoffice engineers to enhance service testability while adhering to established testing patterns and reporting standards.

• Influence testing strategy and coverage for Backoffice services.

• Assist in stable releases and the shift from Java-based testing to Go.

⛳️ Requirements

• Strong hands-on experience with Go, including crafting maintainable tests and reusable helpers within existing services.

• Practical experience in integration testing with real dependencies like databases, caches, or message brokers via Docker or testcontainers.

• Capability to assess when unit testing suffices, when integration testing is required, and when end-to-end testing is unnecessary.

• Experience in testing HTTP APIs, including API clients, contracts, and behavioral assertions.

• Experience in executing automated tests in CI and analyzing failures through logs and data.

• Experience in taking full ownership of testing processes end to end, covering aspects like coverage, test execution, and failure triage.

• Ability to read Java code, maintain existing tests, and migrate relevant checks to Go.

• Ability to work effectively within established testing frameworks and processes.

• Proficiency in English at B1 level or above.

• Native-level proficiency in Russian.

• Experience in migrating automated test suites between programming languages or frameworks.

• Familiarity with TestNG, OpenFeign, ReportPortal, and Kafka clients.

• Experience with PostgreSQL, Redis, Kafka, etcd, and testcontainers-go.

• Understanding of fintech or payment systems, including payment flows, operation statuses, and idempotency.

• Experience using AI tools to generate or migrate tests, with the ability to assess the accuracy and reliability of generated checks.

• Experience with UI test automation using JavaScript, TypeScript, or Playwright.
