This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Spain.
• Design and enhance backend systems that facilitate real-time collaborative document editing for tens of thousands of simultaneous users.
• Take responsibility for the content model and data persistence layer, which encompasses schema design, migrations, compatibility, and maintainability.
• Develop and oversee event-driven pipelines utilizing Kafka and NATS.
• Handle substantial volumes of frontend interactions while ensuring a consistent document state across various services.
• Contribute to the reliability, observability, and operational excellence of Python microservices.
• Deliver product features from inception to completion, including backend architecture and production monitoring.
• Participate in the development of AI-driven functionalities, such as autonomous document workflows.
• Collaborate with a content engineering team that is accountable for the content model, editor backend, data persistence, and real-time collaboration infrastructure.
• Minimum of 5 years of Python development experience in production settings.
• Strong expertise in relational databases, encompassing SQL, schema design, migrations, and query optimization.
• Practical experience with message queues and event-driven architectures like Kafka, NATS, RabbitMQ, or similar technologies.
• Profound understanding of AsyncIO and concurrent systems.
• Experience in building and managing microservice architectures at scale.
• Ability to analyze distributed systems, including aspects such as consistency, ordering, and failure modes.
• Familiarity with the complete development lifecycle, from gathering requirements to deployment and production monitoring.
• Regular use of AI tools in daily tasks with the capability to critically assess their output.
• High sense of ownership and the ability to proactively unblock tasks and escalate issues as necessary.
• Product-focused and customer-oriented mindset.
• Emphasis on operational excellence, reliability, observability, and maintainability.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain technical decisions to non-technical stakeholders.
• Capacity to collaborate effectively while managing independent work.
• Proficient communication skills in English, both spoken and written.
