Senior Python Engineer, DataFeed Team

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Spain.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, and maintain Python services for the ingestion, transformation, and distribution of sports data.

• Integrate with external sports data providers while managing variations in provider models, formats, and update patterns.

• Construct reliable pipelines for both near real-time and batch data processing.

• Enhance data validation, reconciliation, monitoring, alerting, and replay tools.

• Work on domain models related to events, competitions, participants, markets, odds, scores, and other sports entities.

• Investigate production issues, trace data anomalies, and enhance system observability.

• Collaborate with backend developers, product teams, trading, QA, and platform teams to ensure reliable data flows.

• Contribute to architectural decisions, code reviews, technical standards, and provide mentorship within the team.

⛳️ Requirements

• 5+ years of substantial production experience with Python.

• Experience in designing and managing backend services in a production environment.

• Proficient in Django (not necessarily at an expert level), with skills in asynchronous programming (asyncio).

• Hands-on experience with Apache Kafka in a production setting.

• Strong understanding of APIs, distributed systems, asynchronous processing, and data pipelines.

• Excellent SQL skills and experience with relational databases, particularly PostgreSQL.

• Experience in integrating with external APIs, feeds, or third-party data sources.

• Ability to think critically about data accuracy, edge cases, and potential failure modes.

• Familiarity with monitoring, logging, alerting, and troubleshooting production systems.

• A senior ownership mindset: capable of dissecting ambiguous problems, making pragmatic technical choices, and communicating effectively.

• Strong problem-solving abilities and comfort with conducting code reviews.

• Willingness to participate in on-call rotations.
