
Senior Python Engineer, DataFeed Team

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Serbia.
• Design, develop, and maintain Python services for the ingestion, transformation, and distribution of sports data.
• Integrate with external sports data providers while managing variations in provider models, formats, and update patterns.
• Construct reliable pipelines for both near real-time and batch data processing.
• Enhance data validation, reconciliation, monitoring, alerting, and replay tools.
• Work on domain models related to events, competitions, participants, markets, odds, scores, and other sports entities.
• Investigate production issues, trace data discrepancies, and improve system observability.
• Collaborate with backend, product, trading, QA, and platform teams to ensure consistent data flows.
• Participate in architecture decisions, code reviews, establish technical standards, and provide mentorship within the team.
• Over 5 years of substantial production experience with **Python**.
• Proven experience in designing and managing backend services in a production environment.
• Solid experience with Django (not necessarily at an expert level) along with skills in asynchronous programming (asyncio).
• Hands-on experience with Apache Kafka in a production context.
• Strong understanding of APIs, distributed systems, asynchronous processing, and data pipelines.
• Proficient in SQL and experienced with relational databases, particularly PostgreSQL.
• Familiarity with integrating external APIs, feeds, or third-party data sources.
• Ability to think critically about data accuracy, edge cases, and failure scenarios.
• Experience with monitoring, logging, alerting, and troubleshooting production systems.
• A senior ownership mindset: capable of breaking down ambiguous issues, making pragmatic technical choices, and communicating effectively.
• Strong problem-solving abilities and comfortable conducting code reviews.
