Senior Python Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Ukraine.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, and sustain backend services and APIs utilizing Python.

• Collaborate with databases to ensure data integrity, optimize query efficiency, and guarantee reliable performance.

• Investigate technical challenges, pinpoint bottlenecks, and enhance system performance and stability.

• Participate in architectural decisions and create scalable, maintainable software solutions.

• Write, test, review, and deploy code throughout the entire development lifecycle.

• Work closely with technical stakeholders to clarify requirements, suggest solutions, and deliver features from inception to completion.

• Identify opportunities for enhancing existing systems, development workflows, and engineering practices.

• Utilize AI-driven development tools to boost productivity while ensuring code quality and accuracy.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of experience in production Python development, particularly in backend services and APIs.

• FastAPI experience is preferred.

• Strong expertise in PostgreSQL, including schema and data modeling, SQL, indexing, query planning, transaction behavior, and performance optimization.

• Fundamentals of systems engineering, encompassing Linux/server environments, networking basics, concurrency, resource utilization, reliability, profiling, and debugging.

• Sound judgment in software architecture and engineering practices.

• Experience with writing maintainable code, testing, observability, deployment, and scalability.

• Capability to independently scope, implement, validate, and deliver features from start to finish.

• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work directly with founders.

• Practical and effective utilization of AI coding tools such as Claude Code or Codex, with established review and verification habits.

• Familiarity with Model Context Protocol (MCP), AI agents, agent observability/tracing, or AI memory systems is a plus.

• Experience with Kubernetes, containers, cloud infrastructure, or infrastructure automation is a plus.

• Knowledge of Go is a plus.

• Experience in frontend engineering with React and familiarity with TypeScript and Node.js is a plus.
