This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Collaborate with product, business, and engineering stakeholders to define technical requirements.
• Design, develop, and maintain applications and services based on Python that drive core platform workflows.
• Construct and integrate scalable APIs and microservices for both internal and external users.
• Take ownership of backend system architecture to ensure service reliability, scalability, maintainability, and operational excellence.
• Enhance performance by utilizing distributed technologies such as caching, message queues, and event-driven architectures.
• Establish robust observability through logging, tracing, and metrics; troubleshoot production issues and enhance system resiliency.
• Engage in code reviews as both a contributor and reviewer and help establish engineering standards and best practices.
• Work closely with development, QA, and business teams to deliver high-quality releases.
• Create and maintain necessary system and technical documentation.
• Utilize AI-powered development tools to enhance productivity, code quality, and delivery speed.
• Develop and productionalize features enabled by LLMs, such as workflow automation, intelligent routing, summarization, and extraction.
• Design services for tool/function calling and orchestration layers for multi-step tasks.
• Implement RAG-style retrieval techniques (embeddings, vector search, ranking) to enhance reliability and accuracy.
• Create evaluation and quality frameworks for AI outputs, including offline evaluations, regression tests, and safety/reliability checks.
• Collaborate on responsible AI practices, including guardrails, data management, deterministic behaviors, and auditability.
• BA/BS in Computer Science or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
• Over 5 years of professional experience in Python development within production settings.
• Strong background in building asynchronous, API-driven microservices (e.g., FastAPI, asyncio).
• Solid grasp of scalable backend architectures and service-to-service integrations.
• Familiarity with distributed systems patterns such as queues, caching, pub/sub, and background processing.
• Strong understanding of REST APIs, authentication/authorization, and secure system design.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and containerized deployment processes.
• Proficient with Git and modern version control workflows.
• Excellent communication skills in English, both written and spoken.
