
Senior Protection & Control Engineer – Substation Design

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Lead and execute protection and control (P&C) design for high-voltage substations (69 kV – 500 kV) within transmission and distribution networks.
• Develop relay coordination studies, SCADA schematics, and control wiring diagrams utilizing tools such as ASPEN, CAPE, ETAP, and SEL relays.
• Collaborate with physical design and civil/structural engineering teams to ensure the creation of high-quality, constructible designs while adhering to project schedules.
• Perform protection coordination, relay settings, and system analysis using tools like ASPEN, CAPE, or ETAP.
• Assess P&C deliverables to ensure compliance with NESC, IEEE, and client standards.
• Guide and motivate early-career engineers, promoting technical development and team collaboration — you will be a technical leader and a role model.
• Assist in proposal initiatives and provide insights on project scoping, timelines, and cost estimation for new projects.
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering along with an active PE license.
• Over 8 years of experience in protection & control or power systems engineering for utilities, EPCs, or consulting firms.
• Expertise in relays, SCADA systems, and protection engineering tools (ASPEN, CAPE, ETAP, SEL).
• In-depth understanding of high-voltage substation layouts, grounding techniques, and protection schemes.
• Strong communication, project leadership, and mentoring abilities, coupled with a keen attention to detail and quality.
