
Senior Project Engineer – Bridge Design

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Louisiana.
• Conducts engineering analysis and design for bridges and related structures, encompassing both new construction and rehabilitation projects.
• Evaluates and assesses the structural conditions of existing bridges and formulates recommended remedial actions.
• Executes as-designed, as-built, and condition bridge load ratings in compliance with relevant AASHTO guidelines and client requirements.
• Develops construction plans, specifications, and contract documents for the bidding and contracting of construction projects.
• Engages in construction phase engineering, which includes periodic on-site reviews in coordination with the Construction Services team.
• Possesses an understanding of essential bridge constructability aspects, such as multi-phased construction, transportation, and the assembly of various bridge components.
• Maintains and documents both written and verbal communications with clients throughout the lifecycle of a project.
• Conducts project status reviews with the project manager and team, ensuring the accuracy of completed work and tracking project timelines.
• Participates in project management meetings.
• Aids Project Managers with administrative responsibilities related to the completion of assigned projects, which include reviewing schedules, scopes, and budgets.
• Supports the Project Manager in the creation of engineering studies and reports.
• Offers technical guidance and training to project team members.
• Prepares project designs utilizing sound engineering principles, along with relevant engineering software and tools.
• Assists in the development of contract documents and technical specifications.
• Aids the Project Manager in ensuring that quality control procedures are implemented.
• Takes responsibility for the accuracy of each work segment and the final review of the completed work.
• Ensures compliance with applicable codes.
• A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering is mandatory.
• At least 8 years of experience in bridge and related structural design, with a minimum of 5 years in the technical production of engineering projects that involve substantial direct experience in the planning, design, and evaluation of bridges.
• Preferred extensive knowledge of LADOTD Bridge Design policies, procedures, and memoranda.
• Capability to prepare engineering records and draft concise technical reports.
• Required licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) in Louisiana.
• Desired licensure as a PE or the ability to obtain licensure in neighboring states.
• Desired certifications relevant to civil engineering, structural and bridge design, and inspection.
• Proficiency in design using Bentley LEAP or other LADOTD-approved software.
• Experience with Microstation and/or AutoCAD Civil 3D software is preferred.
• Required advanced knowledge of MS Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project.
• Preferred familiarity with design, online reports, and databases.
• Exceptional communication skills and comprehensive knowledge of company products and operations.
