This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +2 more states.
• Oversee a portfolio of expansion partnerships from start to finish, paying special attention to Mercury’s payroll vendor ecosystem.
• Direct the vendor selection process, which includes assessing RFPs and offering recommendations for the most suitable partners that align with Mercury’s product and business requirements.
• Organize and lead negotiations, analyzing the financial aspects of proposed agreements, recognizing available options, and determining the right moments to advocate or compromise.
• Advocate for the significance and benefits of partnering with Mercury while striving for optimal outcomes for the company.
• Act as Mercury’s internal authority on the payroll vendor ecosystem, fostering and preserving our collective knowledge repository.
• Anticipate and address partner incidents, integration challenges, and escalations swiftly — facilitating the unblocking of teams with prompt action and sound judgment.
• Encourage effective cross-functional collaboration among product, legal, finance, and engineering teams — fostering consensus and removing obstacles.
• A minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in banking/payroll operations and strategic partnerships, demonstrating a history of managing deals from inception to completion, including contract negotiations.
• Familiarity with managing or closely collaborating with lending management system providers.
• Consistently demonstrate empathy, particularly in environments that are highly regulated and constrained.
• Possess a strong sense of product and a keen interest in how financial infrastructure facilitates customer outcomes.
• Be a skilled negotiator with experience in navigating intricate commercial and regulatory dialogues.
• Exhibit technical aptitude or comfort in engaging with engineering and compliance teams regarding complex systems.
• Maintain composure and focus while juggling multiple critical initiatives simultaneously.
