This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Lead the Power team at Gigawatt and take ownership of the powerout.info public destination along with utility-branded Customer module experiences.
• Report directly to the SVP of Product and oversee the Power product team.
• Collaborate with engineering, design, Customer and Platform module teams, the AI platform team, and utility customers.
• Deliver premise-level power status, facilitate open outage reporting, enable alert signups, and track restoration processes.
• Manage the notification system, which includes triggers, deduplication, throttling, utility-configurable rules, quiet hours, channel preferences, consent, and opt-out flows.
• Establish load profiles, identify failure modes, assess degraded experiences, and set concurrency, latency, and availability targets.
• Transform public reports into operational signals for utilities, while handling duplicates, noise, and abuse.
• Shape the product strategy and roadmap for powerout.info, utility-branded outage surfaces, embeddable widgets, and notifications.
• Determine the public-versus-private boundary and set rules for utility branding or withholding information.
• Create confidence models for power status and restoration estimates, deciding when to publish, widen, or withhold these estimates.
• Design solutions for medical baseline and life-support customers, non-English speakers, low-bandwidth devices, accessibility needs, and low-battery phones.
• Ensure data-source quality, latency, and dependency risk across utility feeds, meter pings, interval data, call center signals, public and third-party sources, and customer reports.
• Align product boundaries with Power status intelligence, AI agents, and customer service interfaces.
• Drive production-ready releases in collaboration with engineering and design on tight timelines.
• Define use cases and technical specifications and carry out product testing.
• Establish and monitor KPIs, including call deflection, notification accuracy and timing, signup and retention metrics, delivery and complaint rates, restoration estimate accuracy, availability, p95 latency, reporting volume, duplicate rate, and CSAT.
• Manage platform dependencies and adapt to evolving areas of responsibility.
• Over 8 years of experience in product management.
• Extensive experience with consumer products utilized directly by the public on a large scale.
• Proven track record of shipping high-stakes products that are crucial in contexts such as emergency response, safety, health, travel disruption, payments, or logistics tracking.
• Experience managing products with spiky, event-driven load profiles.
• Proficient in specifying availability, latency, and graceful degradation.
• Ability to participate effectively in an architecture review.
• Experience managing push, SMS, or email notifications for a substantial user base.
• Familiarity with deliverability, throttling, deduplication, consent, and notification volume management.
• Experience crafting user-facing experiences based on data that may not be entirely reliable.
• Background in serving both enterprise buyers and end consumers with differing interests.
• Comfort in dealing with early-stage ambiguity and shifting responsibilities.
• Utility experience is advantageous but not mandatory.
• Knowledge of consumer mapping, tiling, clustering, and representing uncertain geographic states.
• Experience with crowdsourced data products, including challenges like cold starts, density, and abuse.
• Familiarity with regulated communications, accessibility needs, or customer communication regulations.
• Experience with AI-native product work, including retrieval, intent detection, and establishing guardrails.
• Experience with embeddable and white-label products.
• Prior exposure to utilities or energy, outage management systems, or a background in engineering, design, or data prior to entering product management.
• Proficiency with Jira, Figma, and standard product management tools.
• No coding experience is explicitly required.
• Must be located remotely in the United States, with a preference for candidates in central and eastern time zones.
