This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Owns the product vision and roadmap for Nitrogen's suite of insurance, institutional, and ecosystem products.

• Drives the complete product lifecycle — from conceptualization and prioritization to execution, go-to-market collaboration, and post-launch iteration — across these product areas.

• Maintains unmatched depth in relevant planning domains, earning the trust of advisors, partners, and the financial media.

• Simplifies inherently complex planning concepts into product experiences that are intuitive and accessible for advisors and end clients.

• Represents Nitrogen externally as a domain expert — in customer discussions, on conference stages, in podcasts, written content, and media interviews.

• Establishes and nurtures a continuous feedback loop with customers, prospects, and industry experts to guide product direction.

• Manages and develops Product Owners, setting clear expectations, ensuring high-quality execution, and fostering their growth as product professionals.

• Collaborates closely with Engineering, Design, and GTM teams to ensure products are delivered on a predictable schedule and succeed in the market.

• Makes rigorous, evidence-based prioritization decisions and communicates them effectively to stakeholders, including when delivering negative responses.

• Maintains a working understanding of the regulatory, tax-code, and insurance industry landscape, anticipating changes that may impact the roadmap.

• Defines and monitors success metrics for each product area and utilizes them to drive continuous improvement.

• Aligns the planning product roadmap with the broader company strategy and revenue objectives.

⛳️ Requirements

• You possess expert-level knowledge of how insurance is manufactured, distributed, and compensated, including carrier economics, distribution channels, and compensation structures. You have inside knowledge of how insurance and annuities are built, sold, and compensated.

• Expertise in annuities and retirement income at an expert level.

• Strong fluency in life insurance, covering product design, underwriting, and advisor use cases.

• Working knowledge of tax and estate/legacy planning concepts, with the ability to translate estate planning and wealth-transfer considerations into sound product decisions. CFP certification or an equivalent tax/estate credential is advantageous, but not required.

• Familiarity with the operations of financial advisors and practices, gained through running your own practice, working in WealthTech, or collaborating closely with distribution and advisor-facing teams within an insurance or annuity carrier is a plus, though secondary to direct industry experience.

• Exceptional communication skills across written, verbal, and external-facing formats — you can clearly present complex financial concepts to advisors, clients, and partners.

• Demonstrated ability to translate inherently complex planning concepts into product experiences that feel straightforward and intuitive.

• Strong instincts for understanding customer and market needs — you actively build and maintain feedback loops with customers, prospects, and industry experts, using that feedback to consistently refine product direction and stay ahead of market trends.

• Proven skills in product strategy and prioritization — you own roadmaps end-to-end, make rigorous evidence-based trade-offs, and communicate prioritization decisions clearly to stakeholders at all levels, including when the answer is no.

• Strong track record in execution and delivery — you manage the entire product lifecycle from conceptualization through go-to-market and post-launch iteration, working closely with Engineering and Design to ensure timely and successful market launches.

• Effective cross-functional leadership — you align Engineering, Design, and GTM teams around a unified product vision, influence without authority, and foster collaboration and accountability across disciplines.

• Experience managing and developing Product Owners or similar product team members — you establish clear expectations, maintain high standards for quality, and actively invest in the growth of your reports as product professionals.

• A genuine commitment to continuous learning in both domain knowledge and product expertise — you stay informed about changes in annuity, insurance, and tax regulations and planning best practices, approaching your work with the curiosity and rigor of a practitioner, not just as a builder.
