Senior Product Engineer – Python

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Latin America.

📋 Description

• Transform extensive and vaguely defined product specifications into actionable technical plans, milestones, and deployable code.

• Design, construct, and enhance scalable production backend services utilizing Python.

• Develop frontend functionalities required to launch products using React and TypeScript.

• Take ownership of intricate business logic, including workflows, state transitions, and exceptional cases.

• Collaborate closely with product and frontend engineering teams.

• Participate in product decision-making and grasp the business rationale behind the initiatives.

• Create data models using BigQuery (SQL) and Firestore (NoSQL).

• Strive for increased customer automation rates.

• Identify issues early and manage projects from design to production.

• Obtain reviews and approvals for engineering plans from the team.

• Present product inquiries to leadership.

• Employ AI coding tools in a structured workflow while being mindful of the delivered code.

• Participate in the on-call rotation to maintain production health.

• Senior-level experience managing large, unclear scopes from specification to production.

• Proficient in designing, developing, and scaling backend services for customer-facing products.

• Strong expertise in Python for production use.

• Solid backend capabilities with a readiness and capacity to quickly adapt to frontend tasks.

• Ability to make sound architectural decisions and navigate complex workflows and edge cases.

• Experience in building systems that scaled with users, traffic, or data, and designing for growth.

• Engineering depth with a quick learning aptitude.

• Independent and proactive work style; addresses issues before they escalate and meets deadlines reliably.

• Daily engagement with AI tools and thorough evaluation of their outputs.

• Comfortable with rapid iterations, unsuccessful experiments, and shifting plans.

• Proficient in English with strong written communication skills in an asynchronous-first team environment.

• Availability to work from 9 AM to 6 PM US Pacific Time.

• Residing in Latin America; candidates from Mexico and Central America are preferred for time zone alignment.

• Nice to have: Experience with FastAPI, React, Vue/Nuxt, or Tailwind.

• Nice to have: Data modeling experience across relational/analytical and NoSQL databases.

• Nice to have: Experience as an early engineer at a startup that underwent significant growth.

• Nice to have: Background as a founder, founding engineer, or experience at a major tech company.

• Nice to have: Experience shipping AI features, including LLM integrations, chatbots, agents, or support automation.

• Nice to have: Experience in SMB-focused SaaS, payments, or commerce.
