
Senior Product Engineer – Payments Risk

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Europe.
• Take ownership of the systems that manage organizer signup evaluations, payout holds, payout release timing, and account deterioration decisions.
• Evaluate organizers during the signup process and throughout their account lifecycle.
• Develop reserves that accurately represent the actual supplier obligations for trips.
• Integrate exposure, disputes, balances, payout history, and verification statuses.
• Oversee projects from start to finish, including discovery, solution design, implementation, rollout, and monitoring.
• Work collaboratively with Product, Payment Operations, and KYC/Verification teams.
• Influence risk decisions, metrics, and the automation of manual processes.
• Maintain a balance between loss protection and a positive organizer user experience.
• Ensure the reliability of the systems delivered.
• Engage in and enhance the engineering team’s standards, culture, and practices.
• Over 7 years of experience in product engineering.
• More than 4 years focused on risk, fraud, or underwriting systems that handle real monetary transactions.
• In-depth knowledge of exposure and credit models, decision and rules engines, holds, reserves and payout limits, transaction monitoring, and ledgers.
• Strong backend proficiency in Ruby on Rails, Kotlin, Python, Go, Java, or Node.js, with a quick adaptability to Ruby.
• Direct experience with production on-call duties, including writing post-mortems and leading incident responses.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience in cross-functional collaboration.
• Ability to excel in a distributed, multicultural setting.
• Practical use of AI tools, with the capability to mentor and train others on AI concepts.
• Preferred experience at a merchant of record, payment facilitator, marketplace, or lender.
• Preferred experience in automating a previously manual underwriting or periodic review process.
