Senior Product Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Michigan, +2 more states.

📋 Description

• Spearhead the design and implementation of significant features for our Ruby on Rails web application and React Native mobile application.

• Take ownership of data and analytics as a fundamental aspect of the role—develop and sustain the reporting, dashboards, and foundational data models that the entire organization depends on for decision-making.

• Collaborate with product and clinical leadership to define the roadmap and convert operational strategies into technical directions.

• Oversee architecture and technical choices within your domains; balance the aspects of speed, scalability, and maintainability.

• Establish the benchmark for how the team utilizes AI coding tools to expedite delivery without compromising on quality.

• Guide engineers through code reviews, collaborative coding sessions, and design discussions.

• Discover high-impact opportunities in product, operations, and data—and drive their execution.

• Contribute to the development of engineering practices, standards, and culture as we grow.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of professional software engineering experience in building and deploying production software.

• Profound expertise in React (or React Native) and Ruby on Rails—is mandatory.

• Strong proficiency in SQL and relational databases—you can effectively model data, write efficient queries, and understand schema design. Data and analytics are fundamental to this role, and our engineers are responsible for them, not just the features.

• A proven history of managing features or products from inception to completion, including the product strategy behind them.

• Comfortable working with incomplete data, making decisions without extensive processes, and developing systems that may accommodate 10x growth in the coming years.

• An early adopter and proficient user of AI coding tools (like Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, etc.) who can teach others to maximize their utility.

• Strong product acumen: you've influenced what gets developed, identified and discarded unviable ideas early, and assessed impact post-launch.

• A natural builder—you create things in your spare time simply because you are passionate about it (refer to the concrete request below).

• Experience in mentoring engineers and enhancing team standards.

• Excellent communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• Bonus if You Have:

• Experience with Metabase or similar BI tools—you will likely be utilizing it regularly.

• Familiarity with Inertia.js.

• Background in healthcare, digital health, Medicare, or value-based care.

• Experience in fast-paced, high-growth, or startup environments.
