Senior Product Development Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Create innovative product designs by managing all phases necessary to transform concepts into production-ready items.

• Engage directly with clients during the design process to confirm customer requirements and provide design suggestions; interpret and analyze customer drawings.

• Spearhead design-for-manufacturing (DFM) initiatives, focusing on cost-effective manufacturing materials and methods.

• Maintain full accountability throughout the design cycle.

• Collaborate closely with design and manufacturing engineers, following all stages of product development from raw materials through fabrication, machining, forming, plating, installation, and shipping.

• Partner with manufacturing teams to create and finalize cost estimates and project alternatives.

• Travel to customer sites and manufacturing locations as needed.

• Ensure timely follow-up and expedite all action items related to new product programs.

• Communicate with external clients and internal stakeholders to guarantee that design objectives are achieved promptly, offering product information, engineering samples, and technical support.

• Participate in hands-on tasks, including mechanical screen testing, prototype development, and part measurements.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical discipline.

• Over 8 years of relevant experience, ideally in busbar design and development.

• In-depth knowledge of various types of busbars and their applications.

• Comprehensive understanding of busbar manufacturing processes.

• Proficient in solid modeling to create 3D models and 2D drawings.

• Strong ability to read technical drawings and comprehend GD&T.

• Education and/or training in areas such as metal fabrication, stamping, plating, and/or assembly.
