This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.
• Take charge of intricate product experiences from initial discovery to final delivery for a cutting-edge AI-driven decision-support system.
• Conduct structured discovery sessions with end users through interviews, shadowing, and workflow observations.
• Create current-state and future-state workflow diagrams.
• Convert mission objectives and operational needs into effective interaction designs.
• Develop an interactive, clickable prototype that encompasses prioritized queues, enrichment panels, record history, and dashboards.
• Design the user workspace comprehensively, including work queues, unified record views, evidence and enrichment panels, decision flows, record history, trend views, and operational dashboards.
• Contribute to and utilize a reusable design system.
• Focus on high-volume repetitive tasks, ensuring keyboard efficiency, scannability, minimal context switching, and low error rates in designs.
• Create accessible interfaces that comply with Section 508 and WCAG standards.
• Present AI-driven recommendations, confidence levels, and supporting evidence for user evaluation.
• Highlight areas of uncertainty and insufficient evidence.
• Design review, override, audit, and traceability processes.
• Collaborate with product and engineering teams from problem identification to launch.
• Work closely with front-end engineers to enhance the design handoff process.
• Assess builds against designs to maintain quality throughout implementation.
• Articulate design rationale to stakeholders.
• Iterate based on user feedback, analytics, and acceptance testing outcomes.
• Assist in the development of training and adoption materials.
• Collaborate with existing designers to establish design best practices.
• Elevate the work of designers through review and collaboration.
• Over 8 years of experience in product or UX design.
• A portfolio showcasing shipped, complex applications utilized by users in real-world scenarios.
• Comprehensive ownership of a comparable system from discovery to a deployed, widely adopted interface.
• Capability to establish design direction as the leading designer, without any design leadership above this role.
• Demonstrated discovery and delivery methodologies that can be immediately applied.
• Experience in designing data-rich, workflow-intensive enterprise interfaces, including role-specific views, dashboards, data visualizations, queues, and case or record views.
• Strong visual design skills in layout, hierarchy, and typography.
• Direct experience in user research, including conducting interviews and user observations.
• Ability to transform ambiguous challenges into actionable solutions while balancing user, business, and technical requirements.
• Proficient in prototyping using Figma or similar tools.
• Knowledgeable in information architecture and design-system principles.
• Capable of designing for unfamiliar expert-user domains and effectively collaborating with time-constrained subject-matter experts.
• Fluent in accessibility standards, including Section 508 and WCAG.
• Comfortable creating design practices in the absence of established guidelines.
• Hands-on design role; this position does not focus on design management.
• Comfortable working within a cross-functional agile product team.
• US citizenship is required.
• Active US Top Secret clearance is mandatory.
• CAC eligibility is required from the outset.
• Willingness to travel up to 25% is expected.
