Senior Product Design Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Play a vital role in elevating the design standards at Cortex: Collaborate with the design team to enhance our design and user experience. You are committed to creating a delightful experience that everyone can take pride in.

• Focus on continuous enhancement and animation: Seek opportunities to ensure that all aspects of the product meet top-tier best practices. This involves minimizing minor issues, refining cumbersome user experiences, perfecting microinteractions, and incorporating suitable UI animations to help users succeed.

• Ownership of the design system: Take full responsibility for the design system from start to finish, both in Figma and code. Work closely with fellow designers using components in Figma, as well as developers utilizing those components in the code.

• Prototyping: Support the design, product management, and engineering teams in rapid prototyping when a high-fidelity prototype is the most effective tool to showcase functionality.

• Implement feature enhancements and fixes: You will be tasked with designing and delivering UI-rich features throughout the product, making sure components are efficient and thoroughly tested while collaborating with product management, frontend, and backend developers when necessary.

• Strong attention to detail: A key responsibility is to maintain a keen eye for detail. You will regularly identify areas of inconsistency and incompleteness, proactively working to ensure our product feels polished and professional.

⛳️ Requirements

• 5-7+ years of experience at the intersection of design and code in a product-driven company. Experience in a startup environment is highly valued, as we operate at a fast pace. Bonus points for experience with developer tools or enterprise SaaS companies.

• Have either owned or significantly contributed to a design system in the past. Ideally, you have witnessed the impact of your designs over a broader scale or extended period.

• Preferred deep experience with React, Typescript, and Tailwind. We welcome talented candidates who may not have worked with this stack before but must demonstrate how quickly you can adapt.

• Ability to present a portfolio of work (or GitHub profile) that clearly showcases your skills and attention to detail in both product design and frontend development.

• Enthusiastic about crafting beautiful, functional, and user-friendly interfaces driven by user feedback. You prioritize user feedback in your decision-making while also being comfortable making decisions independently.
