This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Engage in hands-on process engineering for our FEL-2 and early-phase delivery projects, taking ownership of aspects that our software currently cannot manage to ensure timely project delivery.
• Serve as the quality checkpoint for Candid's automated outputs: identify errors before they reach clients, and provide feedback to enhance product quality.
• Establish how the preconstruction process is implemented on power and gas-to-power projects, defining the standards for what constitutes excellence.
• Review and verify process deliverables for early-phase packages, including heat balances, fuel gas systems, balance of plant, and utilities.
• Develop consistent checks to identify discrepancies across critical documents and transitions.
• Analyze areas of rework, understand the reasons behind them, and determine the contributing inputs.
• Clarify the interface points with Mechanical, Piping, Electrical, and Instrumentation disciplines.
• Differentiate between genuinely repetitive tasks and those requiring true engineering expertise.
• Outline the checks, workflows, and product specifications that enable software to handle repetitive tasks while keeping engineers in control.
• Over 7 years of experience in a large-scale EPC, PMC, or owner-operator environment, primarily focused on power generation or gas-to-power.
• Direct involvement in combined cycle, simple cycle, gas-to-power, LNG, or cogeneration projects (excluding refining or petrochemical projects).
• Proven ownership of PFD and P&ID development throughout the FEED phase.
• Strong expertise in fuel gas systems, balance of plant, and utility systems.
• Practical experience with process simulation tools such as Aspen HYSYS, Aspen Plus, Thermoflow / GT PRO, GateCycle, or similar software.
• Solid understanding of fundamentals in relief, hydraulics, and equipment sizing.
• Familiarity with API, ASME, NFPA, ISA, and relevant power industry codes.
• Ability to quickly identify inconsistencies in P&IDs, datasheets, and vendor packages.
• Clear comprehension of cross-discipline interdependencies.
• Desire to escape restrictive big-company processes.
• Comfortable navigating ambiguity and taking on various roles; prefers action over waiting for optimal conditions.
• Competitive base salary plus equity.
• Unlimited paid time off (PTO) to recharge for great work.
• Comprehensive health insurance covering medical, dental, and vision.
• Up to $150 per month for health and wellness reimbursement (gym memberships, fitness classes, etc.).
