This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.

📋 Description

• Act as the primary architect and development manager for intricate rack-level solutions, taking ownership of system-level design choices across mechanical, electrical, power, thermal, networking, and software integration areas.

• Lead technical interactions with customers from the RFI/RFQ stage through to the initial hardware delivery, encompassing design evaluations, trade-off discussions, and high-level executive conversations.

• Convert vague or changing customer requirements into well-defined program frameworks, ensuring that customer expectations align with engineering execution.

• Exhibit strong commercial acumen by effectively managing customer expectations, pushing back on requirements that pose risks or inefficiencies, and confidently addressing difficult technical and cost-related inquiries.

• Foster cross-departmental alignment across all functions (executives, engineering, supply chain, manufacturing, and program) to ensure cohesive solution development, with a focus on Bill of Materials (BOM) management and scheduling.

• Oversee rack-level architecture, which includes power distribution design, thermal strategies (both air and liquid cooling), cable routing, serviceability, and manufacturability.

• Provide in-depth technical guidance on rack infrastructure, including PDUs, busbars, liquid cooling systems (CDUs, manifolds, QDs), airflow design, and high-density compute integration.

• Supervise architectural decisions that affect performance, cost, scalability, and deployment efficiency.

• Direct program execution from conception through to production, ensuring that schedules are clearly defined, monitored, and adhered to.

• Implement strong program management practices: establish milestones, identify risks early, proactively escalate issues, and hold cross-functional teams accountable for their commitments.

• Conduct internal readiness support calls from initial NPI scoping to prototyping to mass production, ensuring that all systems operate cohesively from power, thermal, and software perspectives.

• Collaborate with customers and internal stakeholders to continuously enhance designs based on deployment feedback and operational insights.

• Work with compliance and certification teams to ensure mechanical designs align with global regulatory standards (e.g., UL, CE, ISTA, ASTM).

• Mentor and guide engineers across various disciplines, establishing best practices in rack system architecture and integration.

• Perform root cause analysis and corrective actions for mechanical failures or field issues.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related field is essential.

• At least 10 years of experience in engineering, systems integration, or data center hardware design.

• A minimum of 3 years of experience in rack-level (L11) solution design and integration.

• At least 3 years of experience with switch/server (L10) systems, including hardware integration for compute, storage, or networking.

• Proven track record in driving the development and execution of complex rack solutions for hyperscale or large-scale data center environments, managing lifecycles of 12-18 months and portfolios worth hundreds of millions of dollars.

• Familiarity with industry standards (EIA, ORV3, OCP) and global power architectures.

• Demonstrated experience interacting directly with customers in technical and commercially sensitive settings.

• Strong background in program execution, including schedule management, risk assessment, and cross-functional leadership.

• Exceptional communication and collaboration skills across functions are a must.

• A solid understanding of mechanical systems, integration strategies, and program management.

• Hands-on experience with prototype fabrication and testing (mechanical S&V, software burn-in, and validation testing).
