• Contribute to transforming how the Department of Defense makes multi-billion-dollar decisions regarding force design.
• Convert operational inquiries into scalable mission and campaign-level simulations for advanced wargaming platforms.
• Create simulation frameworks, platform and effects models, scenario infrastructure, and evaluation processes.
• Design and develop mission and campaign-level simulation capabilities using modern C++ and Python.
• Build and enhance various simulation frameworks, including event-driven, discrete-event, agent-based, and constructive simulations.
• Manage core functionalities of the framework, which include event scheduling, simulation timing, state transitions, platform abstractions, scenario execution, data collection, and deterministic replay.
• Construct models for platforms, sensors, weapons, communications, electronic warfare, jamming, command and control, logistics, and environmental impacts.
• Implement verification and validation procedures, reference scenarios, regression suites, and quantitative assessments of model credibility.
• Collaborate directly with government, Air Force, and broader DoD stakeholders to address acquisition queries and swiftly deliver functional capabilities.
• Facilitate design and code reviews, mentor team members, and enhance architecture, documentation, testing, and release protocols.
• A minimum of five years of professional experience in software development, focusing on simulation, autonomy, robotics, game engines, digital twins, or similarly sophisticated systems.
• Robust experience in modern C++, complemented by proficiency in Python for tooling, orchestration, analysis, or automation tasks.
• Practical experience in developing or enhancing a simulation framework, rather than merely configuring simulation tools or interpreting their outputs.
• Familiarity with event-driven, discrete-event, agent-based, constructive, or distributed simulation architectures.
• Proven capability to represent intricate real-world entities, interactions, rules, and edge cases as coherent software abstractions.
• Experience in creating plugins, SDKs, reusable model interfaces, framework services, platform types, or similar extension mechanisms.
• Strong knowledge of software architecture, data structures, algorithms, APIs, testing, debugging, and performance optimization.
• Experience in making significant modifications within a large existing codebase while ensuring continuous delivery.
• Background in model verification, validation, calibration, or regression testing.
• Ability to translate ambiguous operational or technical requirements into actionable engineering plans.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the capacity to document model assumptions, limitations, interfaces, and intended uses.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in computer science, engineering, applied mathematics, operations research, physics, or a related field.
• Active Secret clearance or the ability to obtain one.
• Strongly Preferred: Direct experience in developing AFSIM plugins, framework extensions, event infrastructure, or custom platform types.
• Compensation is based on experience, with a focus on being at the higher end of the salary range.
• Comprehensive health care plan with 100% premium coverage, including medical, dental, and vision.
• 401k plan with 5% matching contributions.
