
Senior Power Systems Engineer β Modeling & Analytics

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Tennessee.
β’ Oversee a small team focused on power systems modeling and analytics for utility clients.
β’ Guide and train junior engineers in the principles and theories of power engineering.
β’ Manage project responsibilities including forecasting, hour tracking, budgeting, milestone setting, meeting scheduling, and task delegation.
β’ Engage with clients to showcase expertise and generate new business opportunities.
β’ Develop and maintain transmission short circuit and power flow models using software such as CAPE, ASPEN, PSSE, and PSCAD.
β’ Conduct analyses such as Arc Flash studies, voltage imbalance assessments, and thermal ampacity evaluations.
β’ Prepare comprehensive technical reports that summarize findings.
β’ Create automation scripts to enhance task efficiency and precision using programming languages like Python, SQL, and VBA.
β’ Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, Power Engineering, or a related field.
β’ A minimum of 8 years of experience in electrical engineering theories and principles, including transmission and distribution system modeling, short circuit and power flow analysis, arc flash hazard calculations, voltage imbalance studies, and/or thermal ampacity ratings.
β’ At least 5 years of experience in an electric utility setting, such as an investor-owned utility, municipal utility, or electric cooperative.
β’ A Master's degree in electrical engineering, Power Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
β’ Over 12 years of experience in electrical engineering theories and principles is preferred.
β’ Experience in people management and mentorship is preferred.
β’ Proven ability to direct and review the work of others for quality assurance while providing constructive feedback is preferred.
β’ Familiarity with industry standards such as IEEE, ANSI, NERC, and FERC regulations is preferred.
β’ Experience with Python scripting for automating analyses in power systems software is preferred.
β’ Capability to plan and manage assignments effectively while clearly communicating any obstacles that may affect budget/schedule completion is preferred.
β’ A proactive approach to continuous learning to become an expert in the programs and technology represented is preferred.
β’ Proficiency in software tools for modeling engineering problems, automating systems, and conducting spreadsheet-based analyses is preferred.
