This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Collaborate within a project team alongside engineers and designers on both new and existing electrical systems for nuclear power plants.
• Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve electrical engineering challenges.
• Prepare and evaluate engineering design change packages for the installation, replacement, or upgrade of plant equipment.
• Prepare and assess engineering calculations, including AC/DC power studies, short-circuit analysis, cable ampacity, voltage drop, breaker coordination, motor starting, and protective relay settings.
• Develop and review specifications for equipment procurement.
• Engage in bid review evaluations for equipment vendors.
• Address vendor inquiries and monitor the questions and responses process.
• Create and review conceptual design scoping documents and conduct constructability assessments.
• Collaborate with Mechanical, Structural, Civil, and I&C engineering and design disciplines.
• Interface with clients and assist project implementation teams.
• Review vendor documents and provide written feedback.
• Attend client meetings and conduct site field walkdowns.
• Travel to client and vendor offices and plant sites for design reviews, construction coordination, and field verification activities.
• Support site installation efforts during project implementation.
• Assist the project manager in ensuring projects are completed on schedule and within budget.
• Communicate the scope of work to project team members and define deliverables.
• Monitor status and track the progress of team members.
• Conduct regular status meetings and submit progress reports.
• Manage and resolve open items and emergent project challenges.
• Coordinate the completion of project deliverables.
• Lead automation and process improvement initiatives where applicable, ensuring that AI-generated results are verified.
• A degree in electrical engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in designing electrical engineering systems in a project team environment for industrial applications, specifically focusing on existing nuclear power plants.
• Proficiency in selecting equipment and materials.
• Experience in preparing and compiling engineering design change packages, calculations, and specifications.
• Knowledge of electrical system design, including low and medium voltage distribution systems, transformers, generators, motors, and relays.
• Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
• Detail-oriented work ethic.
• Eligibility for unescorted access to a nuclear power station.
• A Professional Engineer (PE) license is preferred but not mandatory.
• A Master's degree in Electrical Engineering (MSEE) is valued but not required.
• Willingness or capability to lead others using modern tools such as automation and AI.
• Ability to supervise engineers working with programming or scripting in Python, MATLAB, or advanced Excel is preferred but not essential.
• Additional education in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Software Engineering, or related fields is valued but not required.
