This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Design, construct, and sustain Power BI semantic models utilizing TMDL and PBIP Git-integrated project format.
• Develop and enhance DAX measures, calculated columns, hierarchies, and relationships across extensive fact tables.
• Implement and uphold incremental refresh policies for substantial historical datasets.
• Diagnose and resolve refresh failures, memory/capacity challenges, and performance bottlenecks utilizing VertiPaq Analyzer, DAX Studio, and Fabric Capacity Metrics.
• Design and implement surrogate key strategies to minimize model size and enhance query and relationship performance.
• Construct and uphold Power BI reports adhering to established design and SSA standards.
• Collaborate with data engineering teams on Snowflake/dbt pipelines and troubleshoot source-to-model reconciliation issues.
• Oversee DEV/PROD deployments through deployment pipelines and Git-based version control, including branching, pull requests, and code reviews.
• Utilize PowerShell and REST APIs, including the Enhanced Refresh API and XMLA endpoint, to automate refreshes and recovery procedures.
• Conduct root cause analysis of data discrepancies, broken relationships, blank/missing values, and reporting anomalies.
• Manage Row-Level Security, workspace/app permissions, and Fabric/Premium capacity planning.
• Partner with business stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable model and report designs.
• Create documentation and user stories using Jira/Agile practices.
• 6+ years of hands-on experience with Power BI (Desktop, Service, Premium/Fabric capacities).
• Strong proficiency in DAX and Power Query (M), including complex measures, time intelligence, and native query optimization.
• In-depth understanding of semantic model design: star schema, relationships, cardinality, VertiPaq storage engine, and performance tuning techniques.
• Experience with incremental refresh, large fact table management, and memory/capacity troubleshooting in Premium/Fabric environments.
• Working knowledge of Snowflake (SQL, views, warehouses).
• Ideally, dbt experience for source data transformations.
• Experience with Git-based Power BI development (PBIP/TMDL format), branching strategies, and pull request workflows.
• Familiarity with PowerShell and Power BI REST APIs for refresh automation and administration.
• Strong analytical and debugging skills, including tracing issues from report visuals through DAX/relationships back to source data.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Nice-to-have: Experience with Microsoft Fabric (Lakehouse, Fabric Capacity Metrics, OneLake).
• Nice-to-have: Exposure to DAX Studio, Tabular Editor, and VertiPaq Analyzer.
• Nice-to-have: Familiarity with Jira/Agile delivery processes.
