Senior PostgreSQL Database Administrator

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Brazil.

📋 Description

• Plan, develop, implement, and consistently execute technical support operations for ICT users and infrastructure services.

• Offer user support and address inquiries.

• Receive, document, analyze, diagnose, and resolve customer requests.

• Troubleshoot issues and implement necessary services.

• Carry out migrations and technology transfers.

• Conduct regular procedures and maintain/update ICT infrastructure support documentation.

• Manage corporate PostgreSQL environments.

• Perform performance tuning and optimization, including vacuum/autovacuum and EXPLAIN/ANALYZE plan evaluations.

• Install, configure, and monitor PgBouncer, as well as troubleshoot connection saturation problems.

• Create, read, and review PL/pgSQL scripts.

• Support and optimize RHEL, Debian, and Ubuntu Linux environments, focusing on storage and file systems.

• Implement and monitor high availability, physical/logical replication, and Disaster Recovery plans.

• Oversee backup and restore policies.

• Apply patches, upgrade versions, and resolve incidents/problems in Development, Staging, Testing, and Production environments.

• Uphold corporate naming conventions, mnemonics, data object libraries, and integration maps.

• Validate logical and physical data models.

• Manage access, auditing, logs, and encryption in accordance with Brazil's LGPD data protection legislation.

• Assist IT Planning, Change Management, Software Quality, and Testing teams.

• Draft best-practice articles, identify and outline new infrastructure solutions, and engage with vendors/manufacturers through support tickets.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology (IT) or a related field.

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in the specified area, working in critical corporate environments with high availability.

• ITIL 4 Foundation certification or a higher level.

• Course or certification in ISO/IEC 20000-1:2011-based IT service management fundamentals.

• One of the following cloud certifications: Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate – DP-300; AWS Certified Database – Specialty; or Google Professional Data Engineer.

• EDB Postgres Advanced Server v13 certification or a higher level.

• Linux LPIC-1 certification or above.

• At least 8 hours of training in Elasticsearch.

• At least 8 hours of training in Power BI.

• Completion of a 40-hour PostgreSQL High Availability course.

• Advanced expertise in PostgreSQL, including vacuum/autovacuum, performance optimization, and execution plan analysis (EXPLAIN, ANALYZE).

• Experience with PgBouncer, pooling modes, connection monitoring, and diagnosing saturation issues.

• Proficiency in creating, reading, and reviewing complex PL/pgSQL scripts.

• Familiarity with Linux (RHEL, Debian, and Ubuntu), storage, and file systems.

• Experience with physical and logical replication, high availability, and Disaster Recovery strategies.

• Understanding of backup/restore, patching, version upgrades, and incident resolution.

• Knowledge of governance, data modeling, access control, auditing, logging, encryption, and compliance with LGPD.
