This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Azerbaijan.
• Manage five AWS accounts across the organization (QA, Prod, Infra, and two additional accounts).
• Design and uphold infrastructure as code using Terraform, replacing any existing click-operations.
• Establish CI/CD pipelines that engineers find genuinely useful, incorporating blue/green and canary deployments where appropriate.
• Ensure reliable release processes to mitigate key-person risk during deployments.
• Implement monitoring, alerting, and incident response mechanisms to identify issues before they impact customers.
• Develop SLIs and SLOs aligned with real user experiences.
• Take the lead in incident responses as the primary infrastructure responder.
• Conduct blameless post-mortems to analyze incidents.
• Apply patches and strengthen the platform's security. As a fintech company, this is crucial, including IAM least privilege, secrets management, vulnerability scanning, and MFA enforcement.
• Oversee infrastructure preparations for the TV launch, including traffic spikes, autoscaling, capacity planning, and creating runbooks.
• Collaborate with backend engineers when production issues affect the application tier, focusing on JVM tuning, connection pools, asynchronous patterns, and memory leaks.
• Design a multi-region disaster recovery strategy.
• Propel the platform towards self-healing capabilities.
• Optimize costs related to DynamoDB, Lambda, and the overall AWS environment.
• Establish architectural guardrails in collaboration with tech leads and software engineers.
• Mentor engineers as the platform's capabilities expand.
• Over 6 years of hands-on experience with AWS in a production environment (including VPC, IAM, EC2/ECS/EKS, Lambda, S3, CloudFront, Route53, RDS, DynamoDB, SQS).
• Experience with Terraform in production (Terragrunt is a plus) and managing multi-environment states.
• Proficiency in Kubernetes and Docker in production, specifically with EKS.
• Strong background in CI/CD tools: GitHub Actions, GitLab, Jenkins, or ArgoCD with GitOps practices.
• Extensive knowledge of infrastructure security: including IAM least privilege, secrets management, patching, vulnerability scanning, and MFA enforcement.
• Ability to create observability from the ground up using tools such as CloudWatch, Datadog, Grafana, Prometheus, OpenTelemetry, or ELK.
• Solid backend skills in Java (Spring Boot), Python, or Node.js.
• Familiarity with JVM, concurrency, and asynchronous systems.
• Confidence in being the senior infrastructure professional, with a self-directed and opinionated approach, and disciplined documentation practices.
• Proficient in English at a B2/C1 level.
• Experience in the fintech sector or other regulated industries is a plus.
• Knowledge of DynamoDB at scale, including managing multiple tables with PITR and S3 exports, and leveraging Lambda for daily increments.
• Proven track record in AWS cost optimization.
• Previous experience as the first infrastructure hire in a small team.
• Experience in building internal developer platforms or self-service tooling.
• AWS DevOps Professional, Solutions Architect Professional, or CKA certifications are desirable.
• Familiarity with service mesh technologies (such as Istio or Linkerd) and DevSecOps practices.
• Exposure to Firebase or GCP, as we maintain a small footprint there.
• Competitive salary and performance-based bonuses.
• Flexible working hours and remote work options.
• Opportunities for professional development and continuing education.
• Collaborative and inclusive company culture.
• Health and wellness programs.
