This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Poland.
• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of approximately 8–10 skilled systems and backend engineers, nurturing a culture centered around technical excellence and exceptional code quality.
• Take ownership of the vision and roadmap for the platform layer of the Bidding Platform, strategically planning its evolution with a focus on platform efficiency, reliability, scalability, and security.
• Participate in defining the evolving scope of the team; as the platform expands, we foresee the establishment of multiple platform teams, allowing significant flexibility to shape the scope around areas of personal interest.
• Delegate responsibility for various platform areas (such as monitoring, deployment, and security) to senior engineers, providing guidance and support as necessary.
• Ensure the team's capabilities are delivered as self-service platforms with clear usage agreements.
• Make data-driven decisions; complex projects often necessitate running experiments and gathering evidence prior to making choices.
• Engage in IT-wide capacity planning to facilitate further scaling of the platform.
• Own the framework for dispatching on-call alerts to the appropriate teams and lead efforts to continuously reduce unnecessary alarms. The lead does not need to participate in the duty rotation personally.
• A minimum of 2 years in a technical leadership position (Team Lead / Engineering Manager), encompassing the leadership of project teams.
• A strong hands-on background in distributed systems and systems engineering, including deployment, monitoring, databases, and load balancing within extensive infrastructure. This role is not focused on daily coding, but such a background is crucial for understanding and guiding the engineers.
• A thorough understanding of complex IT systems that span hardware, software, and algorithms.
• Knowledge of concurrent programming and distributed systems.
• Strong performance analysis skills, ranging from theoretical estimation to production optimization.
• A solid programming background with the capability to conduct in-depth code reviews when necessary.
• Experience in developing platform capabilities as products for other engineering teams, including defining clear usage agreements and best practices, and facilitating cross-team technical rollouts by empowering and guiding those teams rather than completing all tasks independently.
• Comfortable with owning a technical area from start to finish and effectively communicating across teams.
• A self-directed and proactive approach.
• Fluency in English and Polish at C1 level.
• Projects that emphasize extreme performance and high code quality – clean code and thorough code reviews are our standard practice.
• Collaboration within an interdisciplinary, self-sufficient team that includes DevOps, database experts, backend developers, product designers, and QA engineers.
• Access to modern technologies and the chance to utilize them in large-scale, impactful projects.
• Collaboration based on a B2B contract.
• Option to work 100% remotely or choose to work from one of our office locations in Warsaw or Cracow.
