Senior Platform DevOps Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Romania, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Proactively initiate and promote the adoption of effective patterns, structures, and technologies for both development and operations.

• Explore and pinpoint practices and tasks that could benefit from automation.

• Oversee and recommend enhancements to the current CI/CD process to improve speed, safety, and reliability.

• Execute and facilitate the implementation in coordination with involved parties.

• Develop and sustain current GitLab CI pipeline libraries.

• Assist developers in setting up CI/CD for their projects and offer support for any issues that may arise.

• Remain informed about the latest tools and industry trends.

• Provide senior-level best-practice recommendations and implementations for Windows, Linux, and Kubernetes hosting environments.

• Mentor junior team members by offering technical guidance and learning suggestions.

• Educate team members and Application Development Teams about platforms utilized and hosted by the team, including GitLab, Docker, AWS, Terraform, Istio Service Mesh, Kubernetes, Kafka, and ELK.

• Collaborate with the Security team to address high-risk vulnerabilities and examine environment security for appropriate use cases.

• Offer related services and project support to Group companies as directed by the Line Manager.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

• Over 7 years of experience in AWS cloud, release pipeline management, Windows Server administration, Linux administration, certificate management, PowerShell scripting, Bash/Python scripting, configuration management, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) with Ansible/Terraform, as well as DNS and networking.

• Experience at the enterprise level with Kubernetes.

• Strong skills in Linux administration.

• Dedication to continuous improvement, observability, modern application architecture, blue-green/canary deployments, and CI/CD pipeline management.

• Self-motivated with the ability to learn emerging technologies and meet business deadlines.

• Proficient in Istio, Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, MSK, and New Relic.

• Familiar with database concepts.

• Experience with at least one cloud provider, preferably AWS.

• Skilled in Apache Kafka configuration and troubleshooting.

• Experienced with ELK configuration and troubleshooting.

• Proficient in scripting languages such as Bash, PowerShell, Python, Go, or similar.
