This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom, +1 more country.
• Design, create, and manage the backend services that facilitate real-time collaborative editing, game publishing, and content delivery.
• Take full ownership of systems from design and implementation to deployment, monitoring, and production operations.
• Advance the scalability of the platform, focusing on stateful real-time workloads, session routing, and service fleets within a cloud-native environment.
• Establish the APIs and service contracts that the editor and partner teams will utilize.
• Enhance our infrastructure and delivery methodologies, emphasizing infrastructure as code, CI/CD, and automated deployment processes.
• Collaborate closely with product and design teams to convert vague problems into reliable, shipped features.
• Promote reliability and observability while assisting the team in responding to and learning from production challenges.
• Guide and mentor fellow engineers, elevating quality across the team through code reviews and design input.
• Significant professional experience in designing, building, and operating backend services in a production environment.
• Strong expertise in one or more modern backend programming languages, with the adaptability to work across multiple languages.
• A solid understanding of distributed systems, including API design, data persistence, state management, and their associated trade-offs.
• Practical experience with cloud platforms and containerized, orchestrated deployments.
• A proven history of owning services in production, encompassing monitoring, debugging, and incident response.
• A pragmatic approach with comfort in dealing with ambiguity, shipping iteratively, and making sensible trade-offs under tight deadlines.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with both technical and non-technical team members.
