This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.
β’ Act as the main database subject matter expert for a critical statewide educational data initiative for the Texas Education Agency and the Texas Student Data System.
β’ Design, optimize, and sustain intricate database pipelines that process data across over 1,200 public school districts.
β’ Create, implement, and oversee advanced Oracle SQL and PL/SQL packages, procedures, and functions.
β’ Analyze query plans and fine-tune database operations to reduce SGA, PGA, and Temporary Space usage.
β’ Develop data manipulation routines for querying, transforming, and storing JSON structures within Oracle tables and relational views.
β’ Establish data mapping pipelines among Oracle, SQL Server, and MySQL environments.
β’ Work alongside Java and .NET application developers to identify integration bottlenecks and database interaction challenges.
β’ Execute development and unit testing, design test cases, and maintain thorough technical documentation.
β’ Engage in sprint planning, backlog refinement, and release deployments.
β’ Ensure schema modifications and database upgrades align with client software development standards.
β’ Over 8 years of experience in enterprise databases and systems.
β’ Extensive knowledge in Oracle SQL and advanced PL/SQL programming.
β’ Practical experience with bulk collect, partitioned structures, and complex data modeling.
β’ Experience in database performance tuning and optimization, including SGA, PGA, and TempSpace utilization.
β’ Proficient in Microsoft SQL Server and relational database systems.
β’ Experience in end-to-end unit testing, comprehensive test case design, and technical system documentation.
β’ Continuous experience in delivering database features within Agile or Scrum frameworks.
β’ At least 4 years of specialized experience with JSON and optimization.
β’ Proficient in storing, parsing, querying, and manipulating JSON payloads directly within Oracle tables.
β’ Capability to design complex analytical queries and high-performance views sourcing from JSON data.
β’ Experience in tuning stored procedures and views that interact with nested JSON structures.
β’ Preferred: 5+ years of experience using Jira.
β’ Preferred: 5+ years of experience using Bitbucket/Git.
β’ Preferred: 2+ years of experience with Nomad workload orchestration.
β’ Preferred: 2+ years supporting TSDS or similar large-scale state agency education platforms.
β’ Familiarity with JasperReports, enterprise ETL orchestration tools, or Java/.NET integration hooks.

β’ Standard business hours from Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM β 5:00 PM Central Time.
β’ 40 hours per week.
