This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Reporting to the Director of Infrastructure Operations, the Ops Engineer III position is part of a team that supports both cloud-based and on-premises computing infrastructure operating on UNIX/Linux and Windows systems.
• This role is essential for maintaining business continuity and will initially concentrate on stabilizing, documenting, and supporting critical legacy systems that are vital for platform stability and revenue generation.
• In addition to addressing alerts and engaging in the change management process, along with other tasks assigned by management, this position entails utilizing, extending, and enhancing legacy deployment systems and modern Infrastructure as Code (IaC) pipelines to facilitate existing and new deployments.
• The engineer will autonomously identify opportunities for improvement and refactor older systems into established deployment frameworks.
• A solid understanding of cloud-based resources, tools, and best practices for resilience, high availability, automatic scaling, large-scale observability, and IaC tooling is essential, as the role supports both existing and new deployments of applications and infrastructure across the enterprise.
• This includes developing new modules within established tools and deployment frameworks, as well as independently identifying areas for enhancement, efficiency, and cost management across the technology stacks utilized by the enterprise.
• Exceptional documentation skills are mandatory to capture institutional knowledge, create runbooks, and mentor team members across various technology stacks.
• A minimum of 6 years of hands-on UNIX/Linux system administration experience in a distributed enterprise environment.
• At least 4 years of experience designing and implementing Infrastructure as Code within the AWS ecosystem using Terraform.
• Demonstrable experience in independently troubleshooting and supporting complex legacy on-premises production environments and custom application stacks.
• Expert-level proficiency in at least one scripting language (Bash, Perl, etc.) and one programming language (Python, Go, Ruby, etc.).
• Mastery of DevOps disciplines and processes supporting Continuous Delivery tools such as CodePipeline, Jenkins, Git, Vagrant, Consul, JFrog, etc.
• Experience in migrating and educating teams to adopt newer Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) concepts is advantageous.
• Expertise in system virtualization within a highly available, clustered environment, along with strong familiarity with the container ecosystem.
• Proficiency in configuration automation tools such as AWS Config and/or SSM, Puppet, Ansible, Chef, etc., including a solid understanding of the concepts and practices associated with these solutions.
• Skilled in using Jira, Confluence, and the Git toolset.
• Practical experience working in Agile/Scrum and Waterfall process environments.
• Consistently demonstrates personal accountability to outcomes for all team members, peers, and stakeholders.
• Strong organizational skills, including the ability to respond swiftly in a fast-paced environment.
• Capable of prioritizing and managing multiple projects simultaneously to meet deadlines.
• A security clearance or the ability to obtain one is required.
