Senior Offensive Security Engineer – Red Team

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Ohio.

📋 Description

• Provide daily technical and operational guidance for the Cyber Defense Red Team.

• Prioritize tasks, assign projects, oversee implementation, escalate concerns, and manage deliverables.

• Mentor and coach team members while fostering their technical and leadership growth.

• Manage third-party vendors, dependencies, stakeholders, risks, blockers, and decision-making processes.

• Collaborate with Detection Engineering, Security Operations, Threat Intelligence, and Incident Response teams on purple team initiatives.

• Create and implement maturity roadmaps, testing strategies, methodologies, standards, tools, automation, and quality assurance practices.

• Define and report on program metrics that assess testing coverage, execution quality, remediation results, and control validation.

• Lead intelligence-driven adversary emulation and comprehensive red team operations.

• Perform physical, external/internal, wireless, web application, and mobile application security assessments.

• Conduct assessments across cloud platforms, identity infrastructure, privileged access management, hybrid enterprise environments, and embedded systems.

• Develop and operationalize Red Team tools, automation processes, and adversary emulation capabilities.

• Spearhead adversarial testing of AI applications, machine learning systems, generative AI, large language models, and autonomous agents.

• Review engagement plans, rules of engagement, evidence, findings, and reports.

• Coordinate third-party penetration testing and deliver post-mortem reports and executive summaries.

• Assess SOC, EDR/XDR, SIEM, and other security-layer detection and response capabilities.

• Monitor remediation efforts, validate fixes through retesting and attack path analysis, and support CTEM initiatives.

• Investigate novel offensive techniques, integrate threat intelligence, and conduct presentations and knowledge-sharing sessions.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.

• Over 12 years of experience in Red Team or Penetration Testing roles.

• Proven experience leading complex offensive security engagements and coordinating technical teams.

• Experience in building or advancing a Red Team, adversarial simulation, or penetration testing program.

• Expertise in Red Team tools and Command-and-Control (C2) frameworks.

• Advanced knowledge of networking and attack simulation.

• In-depth understanding of MITRE ATT&CK and adversary TTPs.

• Comprehensive knowledge of penetration testing methodologies such as PTES, ISECOM, ISSAF, or OSSTMM.

• Familiarity with AI security risks and adversarial testing methodologies.

• Strong scripting and programming capabilities in PowerShell, Python, JavaScript, Bash, Golang, or similar languages.

• Extensive knowledge of Windows, Linux, Kali Linux, and macOS environments.

• Direct experience with Microsoft Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud Platform (GCP).

• Excellent research and reporting abilities.

• Capability to translate technical findings into actionable recommendations for both technical and executive audiences.

• Strong skills in team leadership, coaching, prioritization, stakeholder management, and executive communication.

• Experience in presenting findings, metrics, and recommendations to executive leadership, governance committees, audit stakeholders, and technical teams.

• Proven track record in defining strategy, establishing standards, measuring performance, and driving continuous improvement.

• Willingness and ability to travel for on-site assessments.

🏝️ Benefits

• Base salary range of $96,000.00–$181,000.00 per year.

• Eligibility for incentive compensation, which may include production bonuses, commissions, and/or discretionary incentives.
