Senior Network Systems Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Design, implement, and uphold a secure, resilient enterprise network infrastructure across multiple locations.

• Create and support campus, WAN, wireless, VPN, and data center networks.

• Develop strategies for network segmentation, VLAN architectures, routing, switching, firewall policies, and secure remote access solutions.

• Assess, recommend, and apply new networking technologies and architectural enhancements.

• Ensure high availability, redundancy, and disaster recovery for essential network infrastructure.

• Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot enterprise network infrastructure, encompassing switches, routers, firewalls, wireless systems, and load balancing technologies.

• Oversee enterprise firewall platforms, VPN connectivity, NAC, and network access controls.

• Monitor network performance, availability, and security using enterprise monitoring tools.

• Investigate and resolve intricate network performance and connectivity challenges.

• Implement security best practices, including network segmentation, Zero Trust principles, IDS/IPS, and secure remote access.

• Support initiatives for vulnerability remediation and infrastructure hardening.

• Assist with networking for VMware-based data centers and hybrid cloud setups.

• Design and maintain connectivity between on-premises infrastructure and cloud platforms like Azure and AWS.

• Support DNS, DHCP, IP address management, and network services.

• Assist with backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity planning from a networking perspective.

• Collaborate with Systems Engineering, Cybersecurity, Cloud Infrastructure, Manufacturing Engineering, and external vendors to deliver dependable infrastructure solutions.

• Engage in infrastructure planning, technology evaluations, and cross-functional projects.

• Provide Tier III escalation support for intricate networking issues.

• Develop and maintain network diagrams, standards, configurations, and operational documentation.

• Create standard operating procedures and troubleshooting manuals.

• Mentor junior IT personnel and disseminate networking best practices throughout the organization.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

• Over 8 years of experience in designing, implementing, and supporting enterprise network infrastructure.

• Strong expertise in enterprise routing and switching technologies.

• Practical experience administering Fortinet and Cisco networking platforms, including FortiGate firewalls, FortiManager, Cisco switches, routers, and wireless infrastructure.

• Experience in designing secure enterprise networks utilizing VLANs, routing protocols, VPNs, firewall policies, and network segmentation.

• Familiarity with VMware networking and virtual infrastructure.

• Experience with network monitoring, troubleshooting, and performance analysis tools.

• Solid understanding of enterprise cybersecurity principles and Zero Trust networking.

• Excellent documentation, communication, and project management abilities.

• Experience in supporting manufacturing, Operational Technology (OT), or industrial settings is preferred.

• Familiarity with industrial networking technologies, including Ethernet/IP, PROFINET, Modbus TCP, OPC UA, or DNP3 is preferred.

• Understanding of OT cybersecurity principles, including network segmentation and standards such as IEC 62443 or NIST SP 800-82 is preferred.

• Experience working with SCADA systems, industrial automation platforms, or industrial control networks is preferred.

• Experience supporting Fortinet Secure SD-WAN, FortiAnalyzer, or FortiAuthenticator is preferred.

• Relevant certifications such as CCNP Enterprise, CCIE, Fortinet Network Security Expert (NSE/FCP/FCSS), CISSP, or GICSP are strongly preferred.
