This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Oversee, monitor, and sustain our network infrastructure, which includes Starlink, Meraki switches/WAP, Palo Alto firewalls/VPN, AWS VPC, and AWS Transit Gateway.
• Act as a technical architect and advisor to other engineering teams by assisting with network design and troubleshooting within a microservices and container-based framework (AWS, Kubernetes).
• Collaborate with IT leadership on various projects, identify new products and solutions, and conduct thorough research on potential options.
• Advocate for effective network design practices by focusing on secure and compliant implementations, redundancy/high availability, and automation.
• Mentor and train service desk technicians to enhance their capability in providing level 1 and 2 support.
• Serve as the technical escalation point for network-related issues.
• Configure, secure, and update network devices and services in accordance with security best practices and recommendations.
• Monitor security alerts and conduct investigations into security incidents.
• Maintain technical documentation for the systems under your management.
• Communicate with stakeholders by keeping them updated on incident progress, notifying them of upcoming changes, or scheduled downtime.
• Participate in the on-call support rotation.
• Responsibilities will primarily revolve around network administration, with additional support provided to systems engineering colleagues for Windows and Linux server administration.
• Over 5 years of experience in managing both on-premises and cloud-based network environments.
• Proficient in network design and troubleshooting in a cloud-centric microservices environment (AWS, Kubernetes).
• Expert-level familiarity with enterprise network protocols and platforms such as IPSec, VPN, DNS, SNMP, OSPF, BGP, AWS VPC, Security Groups, peering, and routing.
• Comprehensive understanding of cloud and virtualization technologies and their impact on network performance and design.
• Capability to manage an integrated infrastructure that encompasses both cloud-based (AWS) and physical office environments.
• Strong grasp of network security requirements and best practices, along with the ability to analyze and respond to security incidents.
• Practical experience with network monitoring and troubleshooting tools, including Wireshark, tcpdump, Fiddler, PRTG, Nagios, NewRelic, Grafana, Thousandeyes, Foxpass, and nmap.
• Intermediate-level experience in Windows and Linux server administration.
• Proven experience in writing and documenting detailed project proposals.
• Background in collaborating with vendors to resolve issues, discuss roadmaps, and implement enhancements.
• Ability to adapt and solve problems in a dynamic environment.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with others.
• Industry certifications are a plus (Cisco CCNP, Palo Alto PCNSE/PCNSA, Network+).
