Network Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Design, implement, and oversee network infrastructure for over 70 clinic and corporate locations.

• Spearhead a networking strategy and deployment utilizing Fortinet and Zscaler, ensuring peak performance, redundancy, and failover capabilities across clinic sites.

• Administer and enhance Zscaler ZIA for secure internet access, zero trust network access, and control over SaaS applications.

• Manage firewall policies, centralized configurations, and firmware lifecycle throughout the network environment.

• Develop and uphold an internet redundancy strategy (fiber as primary, with coax/5G as failover) across Tier 1 and Tier 2 clinic sites.

• Monitor network health and performance using available tools; identify and resolve root causes of clinic slowdowns, outages, and disconnections.

• Establish and maintain network standards, documentation, and configuration baselines for all locations.

• Define and report on network KPIs such as MTTR, uptime, outage trends, and ISP performance.

• Collaborate with the security team to enforce ZTNA policies, access controls, and network segmentation.

• Support technology deployments for clinics during new location openings and infrastructure upgrades.

• Manage relationships with vendors including ISPs, Fortinet, Zscaler, and other network technology partners.

• Assess emerging technologies and deliver strategic recommendations to enhance network reliability and minimize operational costs.

• Perform other related networking tasks as assigned.

• Occasional travel may be required for critical issues or expansion efforts.

• Participate in on-call rotation.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 5 years of experience in network engineering or network administration roles.

• Practical experience with SD-WAN technologies, especially Fortinet SD-WAN (FortiGate, FortiManager).

• Proven experience in deploying and managing Zscaler ZIA and/or ZPA in an enterprise or multi-site setting.

• Strong knowledge of the Fortinet product suite, including FortiGate firewalls, APs, switches, and FortiManager.

• Experience in designing and managing multi-site WAN environments with ISP redundancy and failover strategies.

• Comprehensive understanding of networking fundamentals: BGP, OSPF, VLANs, QoS, DNS, DHCP, and TCP/IP.

• Familiarity with network monitoring and observability tools.

• Excellent analytical and troubleshooting abilities to identify root causes of complex network problems.

• Capability to collaborate cross-functionally with IT, security, and operations teams.

• Strong documentation skills and the capacity to convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
