This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois, +3 more states.
• Oversee development projects from initial design to final delivery.
• Offer daily technical leadership, mentorship, and escalation assistance.
• Perform code reviews and uphold coding standards.
• Delegate development tasks and direct implementation strategies.
• Resolve intricate technical issues, production challenges, and performance bottlenecks.
• Maintain, enhance, and troubleshoot VB.NET applications while promoting C# modernization.
• Lead refactoring initiatives to decrease technical debt.
• Engage in application design, system architecture, and technical decision-making.
• Collaborate with QA, Business Analysts, Operations, and interdisciplinary teams.
• Create and optimize SQL queries, stored procedures, and database structures.
• Diagnose and address database performance concerns.
• Design, implement, and maintain RESTful API and service-based integrations.
• Ensure proper application error handling, logging, and monitoring.
• Assist in release planning, deployment preparedness, and post-release validation.
• Assess systems and suggest enhancements to technology, tools, and processes.
• 7+ years of professional software development experience in an enterprise or production setting.
• Proficient in C#.
• Extensive knowledge of VB.NET and legacy system support.
• Advanced experience in SQL development, including complex queries, stored procedures, indexing strategies, and performance optimization.
• Practical experience with Git-based source control and Azure DevOps or TFS.
• Experience mentoring developers and fostering technical growth.
• Capacity to lead technical discussions and make informed engineering decisions.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Capability to manage multiple priorities while ensuring attention to detail and quality.
• Excellent communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Ability to work autonomously and contribute effectively in a team setting.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
• U.S. citizenship is required due to federal background checks and FISMA requirements.
• Experience with RESTful APIs is a plus.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Azure or other cloud platforms is preferred.
• Exposure to Agile or hybrid methodologies is advantageous.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, automated builds, and deployment processes is preferred.
• Understanding of secure coding practices and compliance considerations is desirable.
