This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Execute modeling, simulation, and analysis of a navigation system as a component of a larger system simulation.
• Carry out simulation trade studies to guide the selection of navigation hardware that meets system requirements.
• For developmental flight systems, direct the design of new algorithms and transition existing Leidos algorithms to create software that facilitates precise, real-time navigation in GPS-denied environments.
• Utilize and implement sensor fusion algorithms, such as extended Kalman filters, unscented Kalman filters, particle filters, and factor graphs.
• Integrate both simulated and real-world sensor inputs from inertial sensors, GPS, altimeters, cameras, and other supporting sensors.
• Collaborate within a multidisciplinary engineering team to design innovative navigation systems, considering factors like accuracy, operating environment, and cost constraints.
• Travel independently and as part of a team to coordinate with colleagues and clients across a large program; travel typically does not exceed one week at a time.
• Present techniques, solutions, and findings to the team and stakeholders.
• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant technical field (electrical engineering, software engineering, aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, or equivalent) with 8+ years of prior relevant experience, or a Master’s degree with 6+ years of prior relevant experience.
• Over 3 years of pertinent experience with one or more sensor fusion algorithms, including extended Kalman filters, unscented Kalman filters, particle filters, or factor graphs.
• Experience with Inertial Measurement Units (IMUs) within the context of a multi-sensor navigation system.
• Solid understanding of navigation architectures as part of a flight system that includes closed-loop Guidance, Navigation, and Control software.
• Proven ability to contribute to dynamic simulations in MATLAB or a similar environment.
• Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively within an Integrated Product Team (IPT) and collaborate with other subsystem teams.
• Capacity to communicate technical information clearly, often to non-technical audiences.
• Must be a US Citizen with an existing security clearance (Secret or higher).
