This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States, +1 more country.
• Oversee the transition of data from self-managed GitLab to GitLab Dedicated utilizing GitLab Geo for data replication.
• Manage the entire customer migration process from the initial evaluation to planning, data replication, cutover, and post-migration validation.
• Create migration runbooks and automation processes to ensure consistent cutover procedures.
• Verify target environments constructed with Terraform, Ansible, and Kubernetes.
• Troubleshoot synchronization issues in GitLab Geo and determine their root causes.
• Design customer network configurations, which include virtual private clouds, private connectivity, DNS settings, and firewall regulations.
• Implement infrastructure as code and configuration as code methodologies to interact with and validate GitLab Dedicated settings.
• Provide guidance to customers on migration sequencing, cutover schedules, integration necessities, potential risks, and subsequent actions.
• Enhance migration tools, scripts, and runbooks for improved efficiency.
• Collaborate with Professional Services, Environment Automation, Product, and Engineering teams to address challenges and relay field feedback.
• Handle multiple customer projects while aligning customer results with delivery priorities.
• Share technical expertise with fellow engineers.
• Proven experience in delivering customer-facing migration, installation, training, or technical advisory services.
• Proficient in using, deploying, or configuring GitLab, with a strong grasp of Git and source control workflows.
• Familiarity with infrastructure as code or configuration as code tools such as Terraform, Ansible, Packer, Puppet, or Chef.
• Practical experience managing Kubernetes workloads in a production environment, including deployments, rollouts, and troubleshooting crash loops, failed health checks, and scheduling challenges.
• Experience with AWS, GCP, or Microsoft Azure, along with a solid understanding of network design and connectivity.
• Ability to read, comprehend, and modify infrastructure tooling, with knowledge of Go, Python, or Ruby.
• Capability to independently lead multiple customer initiatives.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Skill in fostering agreement in a remote, predominantly asynchronous workplace.
