Senior Medical Science Liaison, Oncology

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Massachusetts.

📋 Description

• Act as a field-based representative for US Medical Affairs

• Share scientific, medical, and various information with healthcare professionals, researchers, leaders of professional organizations, and population-focused decision-makers

• Grasp customer needs, concerns, and priorities related to Eisai’s strategic business objectives

• Provide insights from the field on research advancements, treatment environments, and emerging medical treatment concepts

• Convey essential information about Eisai and its mission in human health care

• Supply scientific and clinical knowledge regarding Eisai products

• Foster communication between Eisai Research and the medical community concerning upcoming research initiatives

• Exhibit leadership through strategic thinking, special projects, coaching, and mentoring

• Serve as the primary clinical/scientific resource for healthcare providers in the territory

• Function as a channel for clinical, scientific, and medical information between KOLs/investigators and Medical Affairs and development teams

• Build and sustain professional relationships with KOLs

• Conduct scientific discussions with KOLs

• Present clinical, scientific, and economic data to decision-makers in population health

• Support and potentially spearhead professional congress coverage

• Identify and communicate scientific, clinical, and research insights from KOLs

• Create and deliver territory plans that align with Medical Affairs strategies

• Keep abreast of current knowledge on disease conditions, study methodologies, clinical information, and product data

• Implement approved medical platforms, strategies, and MSL initiatives

• Act as a technical/scientific resource for commercial teams upon request

• Educate, coach, and mentor less experienced MSLs; assist with supervision and performance assessment

• Oversee review and follow-up of Investigator-Initiated Studies and support Eisai-sponsored trials

• Serve as the primary liaison for external investigators submitting Investigator-Initiated Studies

• Offer recommendations for site selection and scientific expertise for sponsored post-marketing studies

• Direct field medical initiatives supporting professional organizations, societies, and advocacy groups

⛳️ Requirements

• Advanced, terminal Doctorate level (D-level) degree in medical or health sciences (e.g., MD, PhD, PharmD, DPH, EdD)

• For MSL: 0–3 years of experience in the pharma/biotech sector, clinical pharmacy, research, or related experience in a scientific or clinical environment, preferably as MSL

• For Sr. MSL: at least 3 years of MSL experience in Oncology/Hematology

• Strong, broad scientific and pharmaceutical knowledge

• Familiarity with treatment guidelines, clinical research procedures, FDA regulations, and OIG guidelines

• Knowledge and experience in Eisai's targeted therapeutic areas are preferred

• Established connections with key opinion leaders and awareness of pertinent institutions

• Exceptional presentation and teaching capabilities

• Strong written and verbal communication skills

• Capacity to evaluate issues and think strategically

• Experience working cross-functionally

• Ability to anticipate, organize, plan, and manage multiple shifting priorities

• Capability to work independently while aligning with Medical Affairs strategic direction

• Interest and ability to coach and mentor less experienced MSLs

• Ability to lead and inspire team members without direct reporting relationships

• Capacity to lead and engage in projects while balancing them with field responsibilities

• Ability to analyze complex situations and resolve cross-functional challenges

• Proficient computer skills, including word processing, presentation materials, and spreadsheets

• Prior established relationships with KOLs in Oncology/Hematology

• Understanding of the pharmaceutical corporate landscape and commercial operations

• Willingness to engage in frequent business travel (approximately 60%), including air travel, overnight stays, and occasional weekend trips

• Ability to travel both domestically and internationally

• Valid driver's license

• Capacity to establish a home-based office

• Ability to interact in person with HCPs and other third parties regularly

• May need to complete third-party credentialing and/or entry requirements, including vaccination attestations or proof

• Work authorization verification through E-Verify for new hires in the United States
