This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois, +11 more states.
• Build, oversee, and nurture effective relationships with pertinent healthcare entities, including but not limited to KOLs, HCPs, academic institutions, payors, and patient organizations, serving as a resource for education, research, and clinical/scientific information.
• Identify opportunities for scientific exchange and establish robust scientific relationships with national, regional, and local key opinion leaders and experts.
• Deliver scientific presentations at company-sponsored events such as advisory boards and external gatherings, including managed care presentations as required.
• Participate in national and regional medical/scientific meetings and symposia, engaging in discussions with attendees as appropriate; attend scientific sessions and poster presentations, gather data, and summarize findings; as suitable, cultivate professional relationships from these interactions.
• Ensure the compliant, unbiased, and timely dissemination of scientific information.
• Address unsolicited medical and scientific inquiries for medical information in a compliant and timely manner; collaborate with investigators on unsolicited requests for investigator-initiated research submissions.
• Maintain expertise in product/molecule data, disease state management, emerging therapies, and the competitive landscape.
• Assess competitor research and information pertinent to the company’s therapeutic areas, objectives, activities, and product priorities; remain updated on therapeutic advancements; analyze and apply relevant intelligence findings and present insights to appropriate internal stakeholders.
• Collaborate effectively across multi-disciplinary internal teams (Clinical, Regulatory, Commercial (Sales and Marketing), Legal, Compliance, etc.) to support medical/scientific and business objectives. This includes providing disease state, clinical, and scientific training as requested across functional teams and advising management on therapeutic and research advancements, business development opportunities/risks, and KOL feedback.
• Maintain comprehensive awareness of medical/clinical, regulatory, compliance, and quality issues and processes relevant to the Company’s therapeutic areas, adhering to and supporting the standards set forth by the company.
• Complete accurate and timely submissions of administrative reports, projects, expense reports, training, KOL documentation, conference reports, and all other necessary documentation; and perform other assigned duties.
• A doctoral degree (MD, PharmD, PhD, OD, or equivalent) is required.
• Prior Medical Science Liaison experience within the pharmaceutical/biopharmaceutical industry is mandatory.
• A minimum of 4+ years of MSL experience is required.
• Experience in ophthalmology is strongly preferred; experience with surgical devices is also strongly preferred.
• Familiarity with current regulatory guidelines to ensure corporate compliance in all activities, including those related to scientific interactions, unsolicited inquiries, and clinical trials and research.
• Exhibit ethical and professional behavior, adhering to the company's guidelines and regulatory requirements.
• Skilled in developing and maintaining relationships with key healthcare providers and other industry stakeholders.
• Capability to manage multiple projects and initiatives concurrently, with effective organization, communication, and prioritization skills.
• Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills are essential.
