Senior Mechanical Engineer – Refining, Chemical & Power Generation

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Kentucky, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Lead the execution of intricate mechanical engineering projects within refining, chemical, terminal, and power generation sectors.

• Act as a reliable technical consultant for clients and project teams.

• Supervise mechanical engineering from initial concept through detailed design and project implementation.

• Offer technical leadership on facility enhancements, maintenance initiatives, balance of plant (BOP) systems, piping systems, and essential infrastructure projects.

• Direct mechanical engineering efforts across multiple simultaneous projects.

• Collaborate with Project Managers, Directors, and interdisciplinary engineering teams.

• Utilize advanced engineering principles to address complex technical issues.

• Provide expert design direction and conduct quality assessments.

• Support project execution throughout all developmental phases.

• Mentor junior engineers and enhance the organization's technical competencies.

• Foster engineering excellence through coaching and teamwork.

• Sustain and grow client relationships by delivering high-quality technical solutions and responsive assistance.

• Occasionally travel to client sites and project locations for execution, field investigations, design evaluations, and client meetings.

• Anticipate travel commitments of 10–20%.


⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution.

• A minimum of 10 years of engineering experience.

• At least 5 years dedicated to supporting refining, chemical, terminal, or power generation facilities.

• Experience with balance of plant (BOP), facility enhancements, and/or maintenance projects involving piping systems.

• Proven proficiency in mechanical design and full-cycle project execution.

• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical decision-making abilities.

• Exceptional communication and collaboration skills with clients, project teams, and stakeholders.

• Professional Engineer (PE) registration is preferred.

• Preferred experience with tank and pressure vessel analysis and design.

• Preferred experience with fired equipment, including boilers and heaters.

• Preferred experience performing pipe stress analysis using Caesar II.

• Preferred experience conducting hydraulic analyses for process and utility systems.

• Preferred experience leading quality reviews and mentoring junior engineering personnel.

• Preferred background in consulting engineering and/or client-facing project roles.
