This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.
• Create and engineer mechanical frames, enclosures, and support structures for power and cooling solutions in data centers.
• Design and integrate hydronic systems, including pumps, piping networks, valves, and heat exchangers.
• Conduct advanced structural analysis utilizing FEA tools under static, dynamic, seismic, and thermal conditions.
• Assess load paths, stress concentrations, and fatigue life of structural components.
• Develop metal enclosures with a focus on airflow, thermal containment, EMI shielding, and environmental protection.
• Evaluate materials, coatings, and manufacturing technologies.
• Engage with customers and participate in site visits to better understand deployment constraints.
• Generate CAD models and fabrication drawings for weldments, sheet metal, and machined components.
• Choose materials and fabrication methods that optimize cost, performance, and reliability.
• Work collaboratively with electrical, thermal, and systems engineering teams.
• Lead mechanical design reviews and cross-functional design validation efforts.
• Maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs), specifications, test plans, and engineering change orders.
• Promote design-for-manufacturability, cost reduction, and enhancements in performance.
• Collaborate with suppliers and customers to address fabrication challenges and ensure quality standards.
• Support lifecycle management, obsolescence planning, and alternative sourcing strategies.
• Perform root cause analyses and implement corrective actions for mechanical failures or field-related issues.
• Ensure designs are conducive to effective airflow management, thermal containment, and cooling system integration.
• Work alongside compliance and certification teams to meet regulatory standards.
• Mentor junior engineers.
• Undertake additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• Over 5 years of experience in mechanical design and fabrication.
• Proficient in CAD software such as SolidWorks, Creo, or Inventor.
• Skilled in FEA software like ANSYS or Abaqus.
• Strong understanding of welding, sheet metal forming, and machining processes.
• Experience in structural design for heavy machinery or large assemblies.
• Familiar with thermal and airflow considerations relevant to enclosure design.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills across functions.
• Capability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Proficient in reading and interpreting technical documents, procedures, and regulations.
• Ability to compose reports, correspondence, and procedural guides.
• Competent in presenting information and addressing inquiries from management, clients, and the public.
• Skillful in influencing others and sharing best practices.
• Capable of assessing projects, articulating risks, and establishing milestones.
• Familiarity with stage-gate processes in project lifecycle management.
• Experience mentoring junior engineers.
• Knowledgeable in hydronic systems, fluid dynamics, pressure-drop calculations, and pipe sizing.
• Preferred: Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• Preferred: Active Professional Engineer (PE) license.
• Preferred: Experience in designing data center, telecom, or industrial power/cooling products.
• Preferred: Understanding of regulatory and safety standards for data center infrastructure.
• Preferred: Experience in prototype fabrication and testing.
• Preferred: Familiarity with global suppliers and contract manufacturers.
