Design Engineer III

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Washington.

📋 Description

• Oversee the conceptual and detailed design of aerospace structures, mechanisms, and mechanical systems, ensuring alignment with customer needs and industry standards.

• Develop 2-D layout drawings and 3-D solid model concepts for mechanical systems.

• Conduct engineering calculations and analyses to ensure safe operation and compliance with specified requirements.

• Validate design calculations and analyses carried out by peers and junior engineers.

• Evaluate designs with respect to cost, manufacturability, and quality assurance factors.

• Create engineering documentation, including drawings, bills of materials, manufacturing specifications, and inspection criteria.

• Assist manufacturing, quality assurance, assembly, testing, and deployment efforts throughout the product's lifecycle.

• Offer technical support to internal teams, suppliers, and customers during the development and production phases.

• Contribute to proposal development, presentations, and business development initiatives.

• Mentor junior engineers and serve as a technical resource within the team.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering, or equivalent relevant experience and registration.

• Generally 4–7 years of experience in aerospace or defense sectors.

• Strong grasp of various engineering technologies.

• Demonstrated experience in leading the design of durable hardware.

• In-depth knowledge of military and commercial design specifications.

• Proficient in SolidWorks.

• Familiarity with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).

• Knowledge of CAD/CAE tools pertinent to mechanical systems design.

• U.S. person status in accordance with U.S. export control laws, including U.S. citizens and nationals, lawful permanent residents, refugees, and asylees.

• Successful completion of pre-employment drug screening.
