This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Engage in practical mechanical engineering for our FEL-2 and early-phase delivery initiatives, taking ownership of components that our software is not yet equipped to manage, ensuring successful project delivery.
• Act as the quality control checkpoint for Candid's automated mechanical outputs: identify errors before they reach the client, and provide feedback to enhance the product's precision.
• Establish the development and validation process for equipment scope through FEED in power and gas-to-power projects, while defining the standards for quality.
• Review and validate mechanical information across equipment datasheets, vendor documentation, and discipline transitions.
• Develop repeatable checks that identify scope gaps and inconsistencies early in the process.
• Analyze the areas where mechanical rework occurs, understand the reasons behind it, and identify the driving inputs.
• Clarify interface points with Process, Piping, I&C, and Electrical disciplines.
• Differentiate between genuinely repetitive steps and those that require true engineering judgment.
• Assist in defining the checks, workflows, and product requirements that allow software to handle repetitive tasks, while keeping engineers in control.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in a large-scale EPC, PMC, owner-operator, or OEM setting, predominantly focusing on power generation or gas-to-power.
• Direct involvement in combined cycle, simple cycle, gas-to-power, LNG, or cogeneration projects (not limited to refining or petrochemical).
• Have personally managed the development of mechanical equipment datasheets and the review of vendor packages throughout the FEED process.
• Proficient in rotating and power-plant equipment, including gas turbines, steam turbines, HRSGs, pumps, compressors, fans, and balance of plant mechanical systems (cooling systems, fuel gas conditioning, water treatment).
• Hands-on experience with equipment specifications according to API and ASME standards (API 610, 611, 612, 617; ASME VIII; B31.1 power piping).
• Experience in coordinating major equipment packages from OEMs (e.g., GE Vernova, Siemens Energy, Mitsubishi Power, or similar).
• Quick to identify inconsistencies across datasheets, P&IDs, and vendor packages.
• Strong understanding of cross-discipline dependencies.
• Experienced in navigating the limitations of large company processes and seeking more flexibility.
• Comfortable with ambiguity and the need to wear multiple hats; proactive in taking action rather than waiting for perfection.
• Competitive base salary plus equity.
• Unlimited paid time off; great work requires time to recharge.
• Comprehensive health insurance covering medical, dental, and vision.
• Up to $150/month health and wellness reimbursement (for gym memberships, fitness classes, and similar activities).
