This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois, +1 more state.
• Oversee mechanical engineering initiatives for capital enhancement, maintenance, expansion, and reliability projects.
• Collaborate with clients and internal project teams to develop project scopes, engineering design criteria, and technical solutions.
• Prepare and assess engineering calculations, studies, specifications, equipment datasheets, and design outputs.
• Create specifications for pumps, pressure vessels, storage tanks, heat exchangers, compressors, material handling systems, and utility and process equipment.
• Assemble construction packages, scopes of work, procurement documents, and bid evaluations.
• Conduct site assessments, field investigations, and bid walkdowns.
• Execute engineering evaluations in compliance with ASME, API, NFPA, PIP, and related codes.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary engineering efforts alongside process, electrical, structural, civil, piping, and instrumentation teams.
• Provide support during construction through RFI responses, startup assistance, and commissioning activities.
• Lead design and quality reviews.
• Guide junior engineers and designers while advocating for engineering best practices.
• Assist in proposal development, project estimation, and technical business development.
• Act as a technical advisor to heavy industrial clients in sectors such as steel, power generation, refining, petrochemical, and midstream energy.
• Manage projects from planning and design through procurement, construction, and commissioning.
• Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license.
• Over 15 years of mechanical engineering experience in heavy industrial, manufacturing, power generation, steel, petrochemical, refinery, or midstream facilities.
• Strong understanding of rotating equipment, pressure vessels, heat transfer equipment, fluid systems, piping systems, utility systems, and mechanical equipment reliability.
• Familiarity with ASME, API, NFPA, and PIP standards.
• Experience in developing technical specifications, scopes of work, equipment procurement packages, and contractor bid evaluations.
• Exceptional communication and client-facing skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, and various engineering software tools.
