Senior Mechanical Designer – Fuel Recycling

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Developing comprehensive mechanical designs, 3D CAD models, fabrication drawings, and prototype hardware to support Oklo's pioneering nuclear fuel recycling technology.

• Converting engineering ideas into viable, manufacturable hardware.

• Producing high-quality CAD models and drawing packages for specialized equipment.

• Working in close collaboration with engineers, machinists, welders, and fabrication vendors to enhance designs for manufacturing, assembly, and maintenance.

• Assisting in prototype fabrication by addressing shop inquiries, incorporating manufacturing insights, and updating drawings as designs progress.

• Engaging in design reviews and providing practical recommendations for fabrication and assembly.

⛳️ Requirements

• Associate's degree, technical certification, or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Design, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Drafting, or a related technical discipline (or equivalent professional experience).

• Over 5 years of experience in creating detailed mechanical designs and fabrication drawings.

• Advanced expertise in SolidWorks, encompassing complex assemblies, weldments, sheet metal, and drawing generation.

• In-depth knowledge of manufacturing processes including machining, welding, sheet metal fabrication, and mechanical assembly.

• Experience in producing fabrication drawings with proper GD&T, tolerancing, bills of materials, and manufacturing annotations.

• Proven experience in applying Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) principles.

• Capability to interpret engineering specifications and generate precise, complete mechanical documentation.
