This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Design and create advanced turbomachinery components and assemblies, which include compressors, turbines, pumps, expanders, and associated systems.
• Develop design solutions that meet performance, manufacturability, reliability, and cost goals.
• Assist in machinery development from the initial concept through detailed design, manufacturing, assembly, testing, and field support.
• Suggest materials, manufacturing techniques, tolerances, and assembly processes.
• Work collaboratively with aerodynamics, structural analysis, rotordynamics, manufacturing, and test engineering teams.
• Aid in troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, and design enhancements for operational equipment.
• Offer technical leadership, mentorship, and guidance to Mechanical Design Engineers and CAD staff.
• Help with the planning, prioritization, and execution of design tasks across various programs.
• Take part in design reviews and advocate for adherence to engineering standards and best practices.
• Review engineering drawings, models, bills of materials, and engineering change documentation.
• Assist in the development and implementation of enhanced design processes, standards, and engineering methodologies.
• Engage directly with customers to grasp requirements and convey technical solutions.
• Contribute to the development of proposals, technical planning, and strategies for project execution.
• Support sales and business development efforts by providing technical insights and identifying opportunities.
• Collaborate with project managers to ensure successful execution of engineering programs.
• Maintain engineering data within the company's Product Data Management (PDM) systems.
• Assist with configuration management and engineering change processes.
• Encourage best practices in document control, revision management, and design traceability.
• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent engineering experience.
• Over 10 years of mechanical design experience, with at least 3 years focused on turbomachinery design.
• Strong knowledge of rotating equipment, including turbines, compressors, pumps, or similar machinery.
• Proficient in geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) as per ANSI Y14.5 standards.
• Extensive experience with 2D and 3D CAD modeling and mechanical design documentation.
• Experience in creating and reviewing detailed manufacturing drawings.
• Essential experience with Product Data Management (PDM) systems.
• Proven ability to lead, mentor, and develop mechanical design engineers.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Capability to manage multiple technical priorities in a dynamic engineering environment.
• Strong familiarity with SolidWorks is highly preferred.
• Experience in a structured Quality Management System (QMS) environment is advantageous.
• Experience in supporting products throughout manufacturing, assembly, and testing phases.
• Previous supervisory or engineering management experience is beneficial.
• Familiarity with precision rotating equipment and high-speed machinery.
• Knowledge of design-for-manufacturing and design-for-assembly principles.
• Working knowledge of machining, fabrication, welding, and advanced manufacturing processes.
